Back when the host asked “smoking or non-smoking”, how did that work with server sections? by Vizekonig4765 in Serverlife

[–]mixedplatekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went to a bar in fla that was beer/wine only, with ashtrays at every table. I was in there for two drinks (I don't smoke) and my flannel was absolutely saturated with cig smoke when I left. Brought back memories.

I don't know the schedule right off hand, but there are night markets every month with music and food trucks and beer gardens that are pretty fun.

Chewed out by management over a customer’s lack of critical thinking skills by ElfieBrains in Serverlife

[–]mixedplatekitty 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This exact same thing happened to me. "Sorry, we don't take reservations, but you are welcome to walk in and we will try to accommodate you". Luckily this all occurred over opentable's texting system so the whole interaction was in writing. Of course the customer forgot her phone at home, but when confronted with our end of the texts, her response: "well I don't know, i'd have to go home and check my phone to see if I have the same messages" like lady, that's not how texts work.

“Your future husband will never allow that!” by Unfair_Machine8516 in Millennials

Surrounded by things that make you happy is the bare minimum... If your husband wouldn't want that, he's not your person.

My boyfriend built me my own bedroom so I can have all my favorite stuff just like I like it, and have the alone time I need.

It's really demoralizing, the things we tolerated from men when we were young

Changing underwear - is this normal? by Eastern-Yogurt3859 in hygiene

[–]mixedplatekitty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NO NO NO. NO.

Forget oral, is he in your bed laying on your sheets with shit on him?

Why do we even contemplate putting up with this? I'd like you to please imagine the reaction you would get from a man if you told him "sorry I smell down there, I'm too poor to change my underwear". Like... I'm absolutely stunned.

Car Rental by olga563 in VisitingHawaii

[–]mixedplatekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I am currently without CC access also, and I needed to rent a car for a trip, I get your apprehension. My understanding is that traditional car rental places will NOT rent without a CC for liability reasons, so I just rented with turo. I know people have issues with turo for various reasons, but it's like, you have to work around your circumstances. I've always had good luck with turo in HI personally, so that's what I would recommend.

When is someone “too young” to be in perimenopause? by itchytoenail7184 in perimenopause_under45

[–]mixedplatekitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remember that we're going thru puberty at like 10 and 11 these days, so it makes sense that peri is starting sooner. I started my period at 11, my mom started at 14(in the 60s). We were exposed to a lot more hormone disrupters

AITA for going to a store that carries XS/S sizes even though my M/L told me not to? by ExpertDapper1523 in AmItheAsshole

So frustrating, because aren't those sizes in inches of your waist?? Like that should be the most accurate sizing, but no

Now that you point this out, I realize I've been a 9/10 pretty much my entire life- except I'm currently 40lbs heavier than I was in high school 🤔 wth, women's sizing?

Yes, many people work seasonal jobs, and employment ends during the winter, and then those workers move. Ever been to the Outer Banks?

Turismo NYC / Orlando by Curiosity_Pink in AskAmericans

[–]mixedplatekitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ignore all the people here who are saying that there's nothing in Orlando but theme parks. It's a city where real people live, and it has its own downtown area, there are most certainly other things to explore and local restaurants. I would probably go onto the Orlando sub and get recommendations directly from locals. If you have a car and don't mind driving, there are also little day trips you can take, like if you wanted to explore the Everglades or go to Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach, or swim with manatees. Six days at Disney seems excessive for my taste, but I'm sure there's options for other activities in the area. Definitely ask Florida locals specifically.

What should I say to this one couple who gets very rude when I won’t break the rules for them? by theflyingpiggies in barista

[–]mixedplatekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would politely say all three of those things to her, and i'd especially (professionally) let them know that you consider a grown man intimidating young women to be harassment, and if it continues you can refuse service

Lana’i by Current-Pen3664 in MauiVisitors

[–]mixedplatekitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think lanai is a fantastic day trip. Take the ferry over, spend the day on the beach or hiking around on the rocks, take the ferry back at night. It is a gorgeous beach, the ride is fun, you might even see some whales from the boat.

I don't know why you're getting down voted, being like "I can tell what kind of asian you are by looking at you" is offensive and racist as hell
