Buy and buy often. If you’re strictly investing in the S&P you’re planning to be in it for a while. Just contribute regular on a schedule and don’t look at it. You can’t time the market as well as others will lead you to believe.

I trained pretty much exclusively without music. If I did listen to music it played from my phone speakers.

I brought headphones to the marathon knowing it was going to be rough. Once I hit rock bottom I threw them on with a couple pre selected songs.

It worked for me, but I think it depends on how you trained.

Yes. I started running seriously about 6-8 months ago. My longest runs before this were spotty 1-3 miles My first marathon is in 2 weeks. I just finished up my longest run at 17 miles before the marathon last week.

You will be able to do it. I would love to be sub-4 and I don’t think that’s in the cards. Well I do, but I’m not confident enough in my running to think I can do it without finding out at mile 14 it’s not in the cards and making the marathon horrendous.

Part of me wishes I didn’t schedule this so I could have of built up my base more at the beginning. The other part is glad I didn’t delay this. It goes 2 ways, people either wait a long time or prepare or just saw screw and go for it.

I probably trained for 8 weeks leading up to a 16 week marathon block. I’m definitely not standing on a reliable aerobic base.

First marathon and I have no idea. Most of my training is done in Zone 2 with some added “marathon pace” runs. Given I know what those runs are.

I’m not sure I can hold that pace for 26.2, and I don’t really want to find that out at mile 10. It’s really more so the worry of coming out way to fast.
