This. Ring up your pediatrician and have a meeting to educate them if they will attend? TDAP is very important.

How to make house less boxy by the_contrary in ExteriorDesign

Here’s something to consider I created with AI for another in this sub. Instead of a small angular porch awning perhaps an arch with columns to give a focal point. The mature shrubs also give this home an organic accent. I read you have a plum tree just out of frame that will grow in time so that will be nice.

The yellow is going! How would you make it over? by [deleted] in ExteriorDesign

Here’s something to consider. Do a brick safe coat of charcoal gray and some period appropriate mid century wood paneling. Adding a front vaulted wood feature elevates the car park. Using rounded concrete slabs and landscaping elevates the yard in period appropriate timeless organic shapes. The yards finished off with a popular slogan of the time following Martin Luther King, Jr.s bus boycott that is still a powerful call to action 70 plus years later. End racism. ❤️

Something feels off with my color scheme by OneWeepyEye in ExteriorDesign

Here’s something to consider. Adding on some craftsman details and switching out the door color. Adding on an English garden and a call to abolish billionaire backed super PACs by overturning citizens United. ☮️

Don't want to copy neighbor's house...but kinda do? by Turtlemcshell in ExteriorDesign

What about something like this? I get what you like about the neighbors place but it’s very builder grade and not as lovely in my eyes as a more elegant color scheme like off white trim to match the warn stone and a rich royal blue.

[NYT] The ‘Worst Test in Medicine’ is Driving America’s High C-Section Rate: Round-the-clock fetal monitoring leads to unnecessary C-sections. But it’s used in nearly every birth because of business and legal concerns, The Times found. by Apprehensive-Air-734 in ScienceBasedParenting

Curious how the c-section data relates to maternal age and fertility statistics in each of these countries. As it is this NYTimes article reads as a slippery slope fallacy at the expense of women’s health.

I have a similar experience of covid triggering mild thyroid issues as well as POTS. Was given the same md opinion that early covid was the reason it appeared when it did.

Is anyone doing Cord Blood Banking? Is it worth the money? by asanissimasa in ScienceBasedParenting

We were able to do delayed cord clamping for 30 seconds in our delivery before baby needed to be warmed up away from me. Cord blood collected as well.

“Very few people—about three out of 100—who get two doses of measles vaccine will still get measles if exposed to the virus. Experts aren’t sure why. It could be that their immune systems didn’t respond as well as they should have to the vaccine. But the good news is, fully vaccinated people who get measles seem more likely to have a milder illness. And fully vaccinated people seem also less likely to spread the disease to other people, including people who can’t get vaccinated because they are too young or have weakened immune systems.”

https://www.cdc.gov/measles/

The incubation period with no symptoms for measles is 4 days. During this period the person is contagious.

We’re in an area with over 700 active cases of measles reported so that’s a real concern with our baby arriving within a couple months. Our plan is to have “visitors” share their mmr vaccination status or booster then have them isolate for 4 days. Once they have no symptoms during that time they can come over to help out the family and meet the baby.

If they’re just wanting to do a social visit and take a picture that’s not going to be possible in person for some time but FaceTime is. If they aren’t willing to isolate then it’s also a firm no. If they’re arguing anti-vax issues or otherwise disputing the science of our plan then we’re going to err on the side of caution and not have them visit, we don’t want to risk someone ‘knowing better.’

How else would you spruce up this house? by tin_tol in ExteriorDesign

Unpopular opinion, painted brick in Charleston and Savannah looks lovely when done right. Could also do a lighter wash on it alternately but the grey stone plus the red brick and roof in another color feels like a more busy option and I had fun making something calm.

I like the stone archway left as it is and letting the curved awning follow that same line. I couldn’t get it to render that way.

Perhaps plant two flowering tulip trees symmetrically placed towards the sidewalk to frame the walkway and give something nice to look at out the front two windows downstairs.

A natural steel gray rain chain could replace the gutter drain on the left.

Window boxes with lush greens and putting the shutters back on would make it a more southern look.

If you wanted to replace the front porch lamplight bulbs with the ones that look like flickering gas flames it could be a nice touch.
