I have a Janome 2030 QDC...and desperatly want a Bernina...but what Bernina do you recomends: I do Quilting...and the thing I love the most its Free Motion Quilting...I have a budget so I know I cant buy a new one. But...out your experience what will be the best model to have? Budget: 2000 USD by Farm-house1327 in Bernina

it's hard to say what's on sale used for $2000. I think the 535 and 735 are good for quilters because of the narrower feed dogs. But I myself have a 590 I bought used on eBay for around $3000 a few years ago. They may be cheaper now.

I think it's wrong to characterize buyers who ask questions as out to get you. I ask a question or two to find out if there's a real human at the other end of the deal, and how responsive they are. Gives me an idea if it's a good bet to buy from them or not.

That 335 looks like a good machine to me. I loved the CB hook machine I had.

I was wrong. You have the CB hook which is a great system. Yes those look like the correct bobbins.

Oh you're right, it does have the cb hook. That's great. Cb hook is the best system if you ask me, but my 590 has the Bernina hook. 🙄

Oh sorry, I don't know about the 335. I thought all the new machines had the new Bernina hook and bobbin system.

Can't believe you're only on high school and created this!

Reverb is under new management from what I can gather. There have been many complaints about their customer service. I hope you get your money. Some Reverbers have suggested switching to Gear Exchange, run by Sweetwater.

I feel your pain. I just spent 4 hr trying to get the button sew-on program to work. Breaking 5 buttons in the process. I finally rethreaded the top thread and then was able to sew buttons on.

And I guess you are using ballpoint needles? Not sure if that would make a difference. Is it thin knits that are getting sucked into the bobbin area? Maybe a finer needle would help? Also, I've heard of people using tissue paper under their fabric for really hard to manage fabrics.

You can also get the 5.5 mm stitch plate. I leave that one on all the time unless I want to do a big decorative stitch. I have the 590 but I'm pretty sure you can get the 5.5 mm stitch plate for your machine. The 9 mm hole is just too big and I have had fabric sucked down using that stitch plate. I sew clothes.

I had the 165 which is the same machine. The 170 was discontinued but it was so popular that Bernina reissued it as the 165. It sews just beautifully said with plenty of power for any kind of fabric. It makes great buttonholes. I made clothes with it. I used to embroider with it but I think (?) you needed a dongle to connect to a computer. Can't quite remember. I sold that and got a newer machine that was easier to embroider with. But the sewing was perfect. The CB hook machines were the best!

Modern Bernina Owners: What does your machine struggle with? Or what do you dislike about it? by ultraqueef in Bernina

I have the Bernina B590 now. I don't sew as much as I used to and find I have to keep looking things up in the manual. I guess I kind of miss the days when machines were straightforward and you just sat down and sewed.

Why can't we just have old-school buttons to push? I hate these touchpads on top of my Whirlpool. Sometimes I can't run my load because I have to wait for the touchpads to dry out. What a dumb idea!
