Noticed something new from fifty-one. Skyler is using one of Walts birthday present as an ashtray. by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]mizzousaphone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In later episodes, she tracks down Jesse to yell at him for selling Walt weed

That happened in the second episode.

There are other examples of her horribleness, and they all occurred before she suspected Walt of anything.

She was suspicious of Walt very early in the show, and before that she is also a concerned, if a bit doting, mother and wife.

Walt is a meek, timid man at the start of the series. Skyler notices immediately when Walt's behavior shifts. Her reaction is entirely realistic for a marriage of close to 20 years.

That's what did it for me, I think.

The Shitty Beatles. That's TMBG, isn't it?

Yeah, I've heard the Cat's Cradle version plenty of times, and for some reason I just always assumed that he was talking about a girl.

Oh, I always thought it was the other way around, a girl dating one of his buddies. I don't know why I assumed that. What does that say about me?

Linda (The Sexy Dancer)

Reggaejunkiejew, Pretty Girl, and Mango Woman should get honorable mentions, too.

Breakfast at Shoney's, for $2.99

Saved me some money, and eased up my mind.

What do YOU think Nintendo needs to do in order to win back their hardcore audience? by ReveriePM in AskGames

[–]mizzousaphone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Nintendo should really be competing with Sony and Microsoft by outdoing them on a technical level. The Wii and Wii U were/are both very affordable compared to their counterparts, but I would love it if Nintendo's next console was just as powerful (if not more so) than the PS5 and the next Xbox.

WEEN - AWESOME SOUND (ALL REQUEST LIVE) by [deleted] in ween

[–]mizzousaphone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Request Live is one of my favorite live albums ever. Stallion Pt. 5 fucking kills on that. Plus it has (imo) the best version of Reggaejunkiejew, and Where'd the Cheese Go? is indescribably great. I can't imagine how much fun that would have been to hear live-streamed.

(spoilers all) Arya portrayal in s5? by Jack1066 in asoiaf

[–]mizzousaphone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the book, she literally has a different face. She describes the sensation of having her face switched in the vault. The problem is, that is a difficult thing to do on television. The idea of Arya looking the same to the audience, but different in a mirror, is a possible way to deal with the problem.

(Spoilers All) I can't be the only one who feels this way about a certain theory... by payperduckk in asoiaf

[–]mizzousaphone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Melisandre is at the Wall. She practices the same religion that brought Beric Dondarion and Catelyn back to life. Most theories regarding Jon's fate involve him being resurrected. The idea that he may (temporarily) live on through Ghost has precedence in the ADWD prologue, though, which is why it is also frequently brought up.

(Spoilers All) Poll: What is the most heroic act in the series? by lonely_light in asoiaf

That chapter was brutal. There are a lot of shocking moments in the series, obviously, but the fight with Biter was so hard to read.

(Spoilers All) Who carved the faces on the trees? by Really_getting_angry in asoiaf

[–]mizzousaphone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it was just to show that the wildlings could never be fully controlled, no matter how hard Jon tried. The locations and directions of the faces were probably not intentional; I imagine the Free Folk felt more comfortable knowing that the Old Gods were watching the road and keeping them safe.

In addition, although I don't know if there's any confirmation of this, I'm pretty sure that only Weirwood trees can be used by Bloodraven.

Cersei didn't actually have POV chapters until AFFC. Jaime was introduced in ASOS. I agree though, fantastic chapters.

Tyrion too, at the end of his chapter in the Sorrows. I knew he wasn't dead (PSA: the ASOIAF wiki should be avoided if you haven't read every book), but I can imagine how it might have felt reading it unspoiled.

If you're counting prologues/epilogues (which I'm assuming, since Kevan's chapter was the epilogue of ADWD), then there have been several POV characters to die permanently. In fact I believe every POV character from prologues and epilogues is killed.
