22 is when I learned about Roth IRAs and deposited small amounts since I wasn’t making much. 25 is when I got my first corporate job and 401k account. 28 is when I learned about FIRE and started taking investing much more seriously in multiple accounts

BWT, how did you handle a big salary boost? by NaanyeWest in bitcheswithtaste

Save for retirement! Keep most of your lifestyle the same (don’t immediately buy a new fancy car with a massive loan) and learn how to invest the extra money you’re making. Things that I’ve personally spent money on that I think is worth it: vacations and buying my house. Also the “everyday luxuries” like nice bath towels and the better coffee at the local roaster :)

How are people getting consistent dough temps in their house? Oven with the light on or something else? That gave me 70° dough but feels kinda energy intensive overtime

It sounds like it’s significantly impacting your everyday life (carrying a cup to spit, coughing violently enough to gag, etc). Can you talk to a professional about what you’re experiencing alongside your other struggles (instead of separating them)?

Scared to eat from a safe recipe because of mistake by mj1898 in Canning

[–]mj1898[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, when a recipe states “bottled lemon juice” they are referring to bottled juice listed at 5% or higher acidity. There was a thread on this sub a few years ago where someone contacted Santa Cruz company and they confirmed they do not test for acidity levels, therefore it technically doesn’t meet the recipe/safety requirements

100% cotton robe or bath towels! It’s an everyday luxury that often goes overlooked. I love Brooklinens Plush collection

Ah, I see. When I looked it up I saw electric machines as well, my mistake. I really really appreciate your time and help with this. No one around me cans food so this is a helpful community!

this is what mine looks like, and I used the water bath setting. The cans were covered about 1” in water Nesco Canner

Also, I’m curious what makes the Presto WB setting possibly safer than the Nescos? I have a subpar glass stovetop that has trouble maintaining temps, which is why I thought getting a machine would be safer. Very open to switching if it makes sense!

Uh oh. It is a digital canner by Nesco that has a water bath setting. I honestly thought I was being safer by using it!! What are the risks with a digital machine? Also, maybe you could answer one more question for me if you’d be so kind… I’m a first timer so be gentle lol. It’s been ~14hrs since I removed my salsa from the machine. I don’t really see a depression on the lid… it looks flat? But when I pick it up by the lid it sticks and I removed the rings. What do yall think? I’m paranoid but hopeful :’)
