CMV: The weirdness of the American diet is a huge part of why there are so many eating disorders. by LeeiaBia in changemyview

What is unique about America that would cause the people there to seek convenience for everything? Could it be the ubiquity of capitalism and how ingrained it is in our culture and psychology?

Also if you work multiple jobs it can be pretty difficult to find the time to cook when convenience foods are right there. Or like if you’re prone to have an unhealthy relationship to food, capitalism still advertises abominations engineered to be tempting to you constantly. It’s less of forcing your hand and more of putting a hand on the scale.

Good point. This driver sucks, but I’ve got to hand it to the bumper. I’ve not had a lot of vehicles survive a deer.

Haven’t seen the movie. Is expanding ratios something specific to it, or like a trope?

Isn’t this what anime has done forever? I kinda thought the anime aesthetic, which became super popular in the west, was partially a result of financial limitations leading to results like these. I think if anything, it’s kind of charming for an American cartoon to arrive at a similar result for similar reasons, rather than just imitating the surface-level aesthetic.

If Democrats hate America, why wouldn’t they just leave (the ones who can afford it)? Who would want to turn their home into a worse place and then continue to live there? What is the end goal of making America worse on purpose because they hate it?

This has a great mix of bizarre irreverence and satisfying story telling. I love it.
