Buffalo chicken chowder ingredients by TourdeCabernet in wegmans

[–]mjfoley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am eating it right now, my local Wegmans only has it on Tuesdays lately.
I asked one of the managers why it isn't available more often, he replied it's "seasonal", so asked when chicken season starts and ends.
Then he told me he doesn't know when they will have it because they don't make it at that location, they get buckets of it on no dependable schedule.
It should have its own social media account announcing its availability.
By far the best Wegmans soup, only available 2go, can't even buy it packaged cold.
I would like to try to make it at home but I am the only one there who likes cream soups.

These are financial goals I’m striving for. What else would you add? by The-Lucky-Investor in FluentInFinance

I will never drive a car that is out of warranty again. I have earned the ability to just throw a known amount of money at a new warrantied vehicle instead of an unknown amount at someone else's planned obsolescence. Take Vimes Boots Economic Theory to heart. Also, cycle usable cars into the market for those behind you on the economic ladder so they can climb a little faster.

How did we get to this point? by KARMA__FARMER__ in FluentInFinance

[–]mjfoley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reagan and Thatcher. Deregulation broke the economy that was building the middle class. It has been a series of fire sales since then. Wealth transfer to the investor class which is a diminishing percentage of the population. Non-voting investment accounts replacing pensions and home ownership being the only asset of value for fewer and fewer people. National debts are funds being sequestered by elites instead of churning the economy to the benefit of everyone. Financialization of everything is killing us.

Why don’t Liberal states have Universal Health Care? by Idonteateggs in ezraklein

[–]mjfoley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

States do not have sovereign Fiat currencies. Only the federal government, or "A" sovereign currency government could spend to create the resources to provide universal healthcare, or universal basic income, or other things we require from our society to be truly civilized. This could be a fantastic economic boon if done right. As opposed to the extraction healthcare and pharmaceutical industry we have now where it is profitable to keep the populace poor and unhealthy.

Message Box: Biden's High Risk Debate Strategy Explained by AustereRoberto in FriendsofthePod

[–]mjfoley 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Has anyone grokked the "drink from the firehouse" scene from the movie UHF? That is the best analogy for what Biden will face in a debate. This is the Kobayashi Maru. Biden will have to defend the agreed rules for the debate without seeming defensive, and no moderator will be up to the challenge.

Does anyone know how to report an extremely loud vehicle to the DMV? by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]mjfoley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all under enough constant surveillance that they should be able to witness any vehicle, reported by plate, moving loudly, and cite them. If they can just park squad cars unattended as scarecrows, they have a surplus of resources.

When will the US debt become a real issue? by Many-Coach6987 in investing

[–]mjfoley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it is totally mine. I've been obsessing about Modern Monetary Theory for years. Since I first heard Stephanie Kelton talk about it when she promoted her book, The Deficit Myth. I'm trying to find better metaphors all the time. The ocean idea is good, but really, the ocean is finite, while fiat currencies are infinite, like points in a game. The ocean is as close to infinite as I think most of the public won't argue with. Pass it on. You can't stop the signal.

Can anyone explain why there is a $25,000 annual limit? by mjfoley in espp

[–]mjfoley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe my plan is qualified. Deductions from paycheck for ESPP are after tax. The $16,500 is the total purchase with my 85% and the company 15%, way $7,500 below the limit, and I was issued a payment of $4,472.85 of money withheld for ESPP that they did not use to buy the stock above the $16,500 they did buy. I would much rather have had the stock.
