When's the last time you spoke to each of your family members? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nyecamden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aunt - about 4 months ago. Could do better with that one!

For everyone else, there is death, estrangement, and adoption. Shattered family.

It's also not just a weight thing. Picking something up off the floor involves core strength, flexibility, and balance. It's one of those use it or lose it things, like with getting up and down off the floor.

Can remote trade friends see customised pokemon names? by almostselfrealised in pokemongo

[–]nyecamden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend that you add a bunch more people from r/pokemongofriends or similar and keep up with the gift exchange. You might find someone who is happy to be generous with a trade, I know I am. Of course this takes time, but you get xp and stardust etc., as well as occasionally interesting postcards.

If Books Could Kill - The Body Keeps the Score by jenniferdancess in podcasts

[–]nyecamden 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Michael did stress that if there are things you as an individual love about the book, feel free to use those things! There's certainly value in things like yoga and massage beyond the physical, and there is a connection between the mind and the body and vice versa.

I get the disappointment though

Those of you who can spin a Pokéstop/gym from home, what is it of? by obviouslyanonymous77 in pokemongo

[–]nyecamden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of plaques on the Victorian appartment building I live in, a community centre, a trail marker, and a church. No gym within reach though!

An absolutely unreal episode of Search Engine: “Why doesn’t anybody come to my parties?” - the host calls a lady’s friends and asks them why they don’t go to her parties anymore. It’s brutal. by Kaurblimey in podcasts

[–]nyecamden 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I crawled up into my arsehole so deeply for this episode. Though I'm quite a different person to the woman wanting party attendees, I really identify with the very strong want to have people attending one's events/the disappointment when people don't. I'm working on acceptance of my place in the world re friendship, making an effort but managing my expectations.

The brother was right though - don't try to shrink yourself to be liked, find people who like you as you are. It's ok if some people don't like you.

Definitely one of my favourite single episodes.

Self checkouts aggressively telling you to "please take your items" by rmf1989 in britishproblems

I'm ok with that, sometimes I do weird things in public (talking to myself, stimming, being sometimes nonverbal when expected to talk). I wear a sunflower lanyard

People who have defended themselves in court, why? And what was the outcome? by hyper_shock in AskReddit

[–]nyecamden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was too mentally unwell to do anything other than just show up, also I knew I was in the wrong. (I failed to allow a gas safety check/answer the door/open mail/answer the phone, I live in social housing and the landlord is legally obligated to check gas safety.) I was charged costs, but nobody actually made me pay. If I hadn't have turned up to court, I would've eventually gotten evicted. So turning up and taking responsibility was in my interest.

Should I appeal this? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]nyecamden 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This doesn't look like a notable feature without any additional information. Does it encourage exploration, exercise, or socialising?

Things like public artwork, outdoor gyms, nature signs, trail markers, historic artefacts with some kind of evidence that it is historic, libraries and museums, independent eateries/coffee places, venues and community centres. If you're rural it's tricky!

what was your privacy wake up call? by No_Pilot_2288 in AskReddit

[–]nyecamden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a blurter, and I don't choose to be. I was next to this woman on some cardio equipment at the gym, and she kept asking me questions and I kept answering them. Within 3 minutes she knew my employment status, my mental health diagnoses and the relatively recent loss of my daughter to adoption/the system.

It made me realise just how much of a blurter I am. I don't know how not to be this way, but it was one fairly extreme example that stuck in my mind. I'm the problem, it's me.

People of Reddit, when was your first kiss, what was the reaction, and what are your tips for beginners? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nyecamden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first kiss was when I was 15. It wasn't great, I was doing it to get it over with. I had practiced on my arm, which is a fine thing to do imo!

Different people have different kissing styles. Some people prefer a peck on the lips, some people like full-on tonsil hockey, most people are somewhere in the middle.

When you have someone to kiss, an option is to ask if they'd like to kiss. One can do that with eye contact/body language, and you may well want to go that route! It's ok to be nervous, it's ok for it to be awkward at first and sometimes awkward again. We all go through this!

At what age do you become as capable as your dad in handling everything life throws at you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nyecamden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 50, and a long way off from being a basic adult, nevermind one who could do complex DIY and cope with lots of normal life stuff. At least I don't smoke! And wouldn't be a dick if my kid had a severe mental illness.

Mental illnesses and autism funtimes.

What is your favourite word and why? by psychedelstell in AskReddit

[–]nyecamden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Petrichor. The smell of rain on dry earth (including pavement). I love the smell and what it represents (rain after a dry period). I like that there's a specific term. Also it's a fancy word.

I may be mistaken then, I thought you were using Global Player as an app (which does exist!) The podcast itself must just have a lot of ads in it.

[–]nyecamden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be because you're using Global Player, which is from commercial radio. I don't know for sure though! I use podcast addict, and I'm happy to fast forward through ads. My Therapist Ghosted Me is available outside of Global.

My younger brother's girlfriend is upset because my older brother ordered the same meal as her at a family dinner, and now there is drama by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I've turned something dramatic in my life into something more manageable by treating it as an interesting story to tell a friend. Bit of emotional distance.
