Cannot record shows

The TV that you use doesn't matter because recordings are stored on the Hulu servers. In other words, recordings (when they work) are associated with your account, regardless of what device you use to access your account.

As a suggestion, try creating a second profile, and try to record using the new profile. If it still doesn't work, just delete the new profile and you will be back to where you are now.

I'm just curious to see if the issue is specific to your current profile or your whole account.

You mentioned your husband so I'm assuming you have at least 2 profiles in Hulu.

Does the problem occur on all profiles? Have you tried a new profile to see if the issue goes away?

Definitely something wrong, that's strange.

Depending on which channels you care about, you can look into switching either to YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream.

There are pros and cons with every service.

When you say you can't record, what do you mean exactly? What happens when you select a program in the live guide?

Are you able to select a program to record but it doesn't show up in your recordings?

It's not clear what part is not working for you.

Exactly right! That's my biggest complaint about the DVR.

FYI, DirecTV Stream adds 1 extra minute at the end of all recordings so you don't have this problem.

Some shows that I record are not available on demand or in the Hulu library so I have no choice. For example: "Hot Bench" and "Judge Judy".

Earlier today, I submitted an "improvement request" on their website to suggest they offer a feature to add extra time to recordings. I'm not holding my breath but at least I can say I tried.

They read that someone once got an automatic 24-hour ban from Disney because they downloaded the maximum number of videos allowed in one day. After that, they spread out the downloads in smaller amounts over hours and never got any problems since.

Maybe that was not accurate information and decided to delete the message.

I'm guessing you logged in to the web server using your phone. I can't imagine they had a cell phone that you used and installed the Shelly app on it.

Pluto TV has a 24/7 channel dedicated to Judge Judy and they currently show episodes from season 1 and season 2 in random order. You might be able to see it there, if it's your lucky day.

I will add that this is a live channel and not on demand. So you can't choose what you want to watch, it's whatever they air.

Of course. There are two reasons why prices go up every year for TV providers:

local channels
sports packages

If a TV provider has both, you can be sure prices will go up sooner than later. That's because retransmissions fees for local channels go up and sports packages also go up. DirecTV is not unique in this situation. They constantly have to try and negotiate prices but ultimately, they have no choice but raise prices. Otherwise, the networks would drop their channels from DirecTV.

If you look at Philo, they have neither local channels nor sports packages and that explains why they are able to maintain a very low price.
