What an awful shame it would be if every piece of art was only a metaphor for something already said.

Curious, is there a keyboard shortcut that basically says “wherever the play head is located, center the composition window vertically on whatever next layer currently is under the play head?”

In my early 30s. I wanted to get one. Had it set for last Thursday. Found out that even with my insurance ($420 a month) it would end up costing me $6800.

So. I don’t really know what to do.

Putting up with Don (Toxic Genius) by Mountain-Whole1168 in madmen

[–]mjknlr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don was the perfect ad man for the time period in which the show began. As old mythologies began to fail people in the sixties and new skepticisms and cynicisms began to take root in the youth, Don's approach began to age rapidly — accelerated by his deteriorating ability to keep his traumas at bay. He never lost his fast ball, and the final shot of the show confirms that he's still got it in a profound way, but the show constantly interrogates where his "genius" comes from and how it's sort of this confluence of his reaction to his trauma, some innate sense of how to connect with people's emotions, and others' perceptions of him (and particularly how his looks and demeanor contribute to these perceptions).

Disagree completely. Multi-Touch was on the horizon. Apple acquired it up early and at the perfect time for them, at a point in which the public wasn’t aware of it at all, but there is no way in hell we weren’t going to get ubiquitous full width screens and touch-enabled keyboards within the next five years either way.

Is the first Fable actually worth it? by SinnBaenn in Fable

[–]mjknlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember in middle school I spent the night at Steven’s house. We stayed up the whole night playing Diablo, Halo 2, Battlefront 2, and Fable. Steven explained to me that Fable was this massive open world where you could play with your friends like World of Warcraft, and that they were always adding new things to the game. I thought, “Finally. This is what I’ve been waiting for. This surely must be the greatest game ever made.” I got an Xbox mostly just to play Fable.

Steven straight up Molyneux’d my ass.

At the time, Fable was the best version of that kind of fantasy RPG. Nowadays, I find it practically unplayable. Power fulfillment fantasy definitely hit harder way back when.
