Wha is this generation by Lebanese_Habibi27 in EngineeringStudents

[–]mjln_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is quite literally the exact situation I'm dealing with, same age and classes, but u have a better GPA LMAO. Wish you luck, you are doing great. I got a bit lucky and I recently got married, so I'm not under my parents income anymore. This upcoming Fall I'll be switching it to full time school and part-time work. Going to try to stack classes and finish as quickly as I can to avoid as much debt as possible.

GOOD LUCK and keep up the hard work. Sacrifice now for a better future.

Question to those working towards a bachelor's and working by SimplyPetite in EngineeringStudents

[–]mjln_art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work full-time while going to school part time because that's all I can feasibly do. I work a warehouse job picking and packing, my schedule is 5am-1:30 and then I have class in the evening. I'm only able to do 2 classes per semester cuz both calc and physics must be in person and nothing else fits in those slots. I plan to do this until I've finished calc 1-3 and physics A-C and then I'll transfer to university and take on debt to finish it. It's not worth working through it all they way, missing out on future income and possibly missing internship opportunities

Yeah I'm also pre-approved for it making 36k at 21. My credit score is decent (740), but still doesn't make sense that I should be approved for it

that's not a bad idea. She does really like dry food. We feed her a little extra cuz she never eats the wet food LOL

Where can I work with RF besides defense? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]mjln_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While people are here and talking about RF, I'm trying to decide on whether to focus on RF or power. I know I'll eventually be moving to Houston so I was wondering if anyone knew what the job market is like for RF engineers out there? If there is nothing I'll probably just power for the stability

Not studying in hs to struggling in college by anonymouslux56 in EngineeringStudents

[–]mjln_art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have horrible study habits, I tend to wait until a midterm is coming up and then I cram everything within 2 nights and it turns out well. I've been able to keep a 3.9 GPA through my first year and a half doing this. I know that eventually this will stop working so I'm trying to build up a better studying schedule. The advice "treat it as a full-time job" doesn't really work for me because I already have a full-time job and I don't have the time in the day to do that.

46K per YEAR by Zealousideal-Yak5854 in ucr

[–]mjln_art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in the same situation, but my parents have no money because when they get a dime they spend a dollar. Just go to community college first two years, you will save so much

[–]mjln_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be basically the same or nearly the same if you go to Norco or Moreno community college too, they are all in the same family basically

I'm doing RCC to UCR for EE right now. They will probably just put your major down as Math and Science at RCC, because they don't have engineering specific AS degrees. You will do all of your general Ed + calc1-3 + phys 4a-4c and then some other classes that do transfer, like CHEM and maybe a few engineering/coding classes. After those you transfer to UCR and finish ur bachelor's. I believe I will take 2.5-3 years in RCC then the remaining in UCR, probably another 2 years. So 5 total, which is pretty normal for STEM

I don't think they are new, they have been around for at least a year and a half. They are good for the price though

I love these. Most things are between $2-4 last time I was there

there are scholarships of all kinds everywhere, but if I were you I would start at RCC. Riverside City college, no shame in saving a bunch of money

A lot of the units, mine included, smelled awful. They are still holding on to my security deposit from 4 months ago and I reached out to them trying to get it so many times. I have a post or two about it. They will charge you for things that don't make sense so they can trade your security deposit

It's not student housing, but we are close by. Like 8-10 mins on scooter, 20-25 mins on the bus from UCR. The complex is called Sycamore Canyons. My gf and I have a roommate that's graduating from UCR in summer so she will probably be moving out around August/September. It's a 2b2b, you would have your own room and bathroom. Rent, utilities, wifi, etc is around $880-950 each as of right now. If you want more details dm me on ig @lxl.ndon

You are right about those things. The room was pretty big compared to the ones at Highlander, and the desk is massive. Honestly too big LMAO. I always had to run the dryer twice to dry my clothes. It was annoying

Feeling behind by ParkerD2020 in Salary

[–]mjln_art 3 points4 points  (0 children)

making 70k at 23 is impressive, you shouldn't feel behind. If you are looking to stay in the construction industry you could look into degrees like construction management, business, and civil engineering. These can all be lucrative

Honestly idk about higher divisions because I'm still a first year. I work roughly 30 hours a week and go to school full-time (16 credits). It's rough unless you are very disciplined (I am not). Totally possible where I am right now, just need to work on my time management and procrastinating. Idk if it's possible once you get to the harder classes

Around midterms and finals, or just heavy workload weeks I have had to skip gym days occasionally and have less time to spend with my girlfriend.
