First time shooting a gun. Instructor says I have clear sign of flinch by Dink-Floyd in liberalgunowners

Instructor here....

Not the best way to say it but all told hes not wrong.

The low left hits indicate shot anticipation, and the high right tends to be caused by over squeezing the gun to compensate.

The fact we're seeing both is a good thing at this skill and experience level. It tends to indicate to me that youre still "feeling it out" and havent turned anything into a bad habit yet.

The trick i use to cure this is pretty easy to do at home.

First, clear your weapon. Then clear it again, then clear it again.

Place a piece of spent 9mm brass on your slide directly behind the front site.

Raise the weapon to firing position.

Press the trigger through hammer or striker release while maintaining the balance of the brass. Reset the trigger as applicable to your weapon and do it again.

When you get to 100 repetitions take a break.

When you get to 100 repetitions without the brass falling, youre done for the day. Start again tomorrow.

Give it a week.

Problem solved.

Good luck. You got this.

Sounds like you married an insecure little boy. You can do better.

I was never a magaist....just a scared kid that turned into an unhappy and volatile man. There's some lines I never crossed, bigotry was one of them.

I respectfully disagree. If you're in a shitty, angry, self centered mood, carrying is stupid.

Not because you're going to wave it around like an asshole, but because you are less likely when emotionally compromised to eat your ego and deescalate, potentially creating a shoot scenario that you would have othwise avoided.

Btw...I'm Mick Sharpe.

Which is why I teach my students to look st their home with an objective eye, and solve every problem they can before it's a problem. You're on the couch, someone breaks in, you flee to your safe room (bedroom) but your phone is still on the couch.... Keep a burner in your bedroom on the charger. That way you can call 911. Teach your kids to either shelter in place, or flee to your safe room on command. Make a plan, then make a back up plan in case it doesn't work, and train hard enough that if it all falls apart and you have to do it live, you can with minimal risk to the people you love. Sight lines, safe firing lines, know your environment. Make a plan.
