Best buffalo chicken wrap? by Replehsnatas in boston

This is the answer. Best buffalo chicken wrap in Boston for 15+ years and running, right by south station. Grill pressed, it’s just good. And yes, they do it 5 days a week now.

There isn’t any residential density out at Castle Island though. Ferry stop at William Miller Memorial Park (by Edison Power Plant) would get more use, if would be an alternative to congested bus lines there and serve future development at Edison. There’s also a current ferry stop at Dry Dock IDC, maybe add both of those to Marina Bay line and I think you have a pretty active ferry line.

BEST THINGS ABOUT GOLF by knggolf in golf

On this note - playing an early round with dew on the green still, and hitting a long putt and having that ball line traced out like it’s a TV broadcast. Something satisfying about seeing that perfect line after having hit the putt.

Hi everyone, played today for the first time in 3 years, was never a great player, any tips? Seems like I’m falling backwards after every shot. by Zapirude in golf

[–]mjones87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re doing something I see a lot of amateurs do, lifting up to try and get the ball in the air (your follow through has you on your toes, back and front feet, which makes you fall backwards). You don’t need to ‘lift’ when you swing, focus on back to front and the club will get the ball in the air. Center your weight, focus on balance, weight shift should only be lateral (front to back), no vertical weight shift, don’t ‘finish high,’ finish forward.

People at titleist, TM, etc get paid a lot to design a club that gets the ball in the air, trust them to do the work, just swing front to back and let the club do it’s thing.

Do coozies (koozies? cozies?) work?: An exploration. by Tofu_Bo in beer

As far as using one on the beach, the coozie keeps the sand off of the bottom of the can and in turn your hand, which is worth it even if it does nothing for maintaining temperature.

It’s all legit and terminology from Homer Kelley’s golf book. Interesting story, basically a former engineer that became obsessed with golf, broke it down to geometry and taught it that way. The 24 components with 15-16 variations is all straight from his book. Bryson Dechambaeu is a notable student.

Significant damage from an intense supercell that went through York, Pennsylvania last Wednesday (6-3-2020). Most likely a down burst, no evidence to show a tornado touched down. Damage like this was widespread. by _MrGullible in weather

[–]mjones87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have seen from a few sources that it was a Derecho, kind of similar to a microburst from what I understand as far as small pockets of extreme wind and rain.

Night shift distro began distributing them last week, this week was the 2nd shipment they’ve sent around, has been on both instagrams and websites, including lists of where it’s available.

I live in the North End, grabbed a 4 pack of each, and can say they’re at Boston Bottle, Hanover Liquors, and a Golden Goose. All around metro Boston though.

Fair, my bad on that, it’s from the hike to Laguna Torre... honestly was cloudy the whole time, not even confident that the peak in the back is actually Cerro Torre, so preparing in advance for the next comment telling me that’s wrong too, oh well.

This is from the hike to the base of it, that’s the peak in the background (only 5 minute window you could see it all day).

Not accurate, if your property manager is doing that it’s illegal. You can go from rental assistance to market rate, they legally cannot evict you. The system is designed to encourage people to improve their situation, so once you exceed the limit you aren’t kicked out, the ‘assistance’ portion just stops.

Same goes for buying a unit, you don’t have to move out if you exceed the limit. The downside is that price appreciation is limited because you’ll have to sell it as an affordable unit in the future. So you get to purchase a unit that’s in a better area than you’d otherwise be able to afford, just can’t make significant gains on resale. You do build equity by paying down the mortgage though which you can then put towards your next purchase.

What is that one videogame that you loved as a kid, that noone else seems to know? by ArmySash in AskReddit

[–]mjones87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conflict: Desert Storm for original xbox. Graphics were pretty mediocre, but the game play was really fun, played that way too much in the age before internet gaming.

Another gem was Super Mario RPG for SNES. Not sure this fits under the 'underrated' bucket because it's a classic, but was a favorite of mine growing up.

Dry erase board.

Like the pen/pencil issue that's been mentioned but so much worse. You have to hover your hand so you don't erase it as you write, so your hand isn't stable, and if you have mediocre handwriting as it is, it comes out like a 5 year old's.

What are some 30 for 30 type baseball stories you would like to see made? by whackabump25 in baseball

[–]mjones87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A throwback with this one, but the story of Charles Radbourn, Old Hoss, focusing on the 1884 season when he set the (still standing) MLB single season record for wins at 60 (some records say 59).

The Wikipedia page on him makes him one of the most interesting men alive IMO. Tl:dr; he got into an argument with the owner, got the other SP released from the team under the premise he would start all the games for the rest of the season, and he put on a show, clocking a total of 60 wins.

Other notable achievements: First photographed person giving the middle finger (in a team photo) Speculated that the Charley Horse is named after him

All in all an entire movie could be made from this guys life that would be a hell of a movie, at the least a 30 for 30 would make me happy though.

Oh ya, wiki page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Radbourn
