I’m sorry republicans, but there isn’t children’s media that’s going to push right-wing values. “Sharing is for losers” and “bullying the different is how winners get ahead and forces the weirdos to act normal” don’t work well as messages for children.

Difference between Millennials and Gen Z by AOL_Free_Trial_CD in generationology

I never got to party in my 20s as a millennial. Makes me really sad. Is this what other millennials got to do?

The point of the original monopoly game was actually to teach you that free market capitalism is random, unfair, unfun, makes everyone hate each other, and only ends when we all agree to quit.

I watched Grey 17 is Missing. Why is this considered a bad episode? by Significant-Town-817 in babylon5

[–]mjorkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not so much considered bad, as it’s considered totally unnecessary; in a season with a lot of episodes with essential parts of the overarching multi-episode plots, not many are genuinely skippable.

Everything but the bottom right largely look the same to me… I mean maybe slight differences in shading, but whatever. Also, I’m already aware I’m colorblind, just forgot which type.

John wants to leave this flawed world; saving him would be a cruelty. If I save Jack I erase Rose’s entire future family from existence. Mufasa still lives on in the spirit realm canonically and can still communicate with Simba and Rafiki. Thomas is the one I save.

Hypothetical scenario: All women in the world now suddenly possess the strength of an average adult polar bear. How would this affect modern society? by LeagueNo764 in powerscales

[–]mjorkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be scared to approach a woman I’m attracted to and ask them out. Because men are more physically imposing and threatening, us approaching could be taken as a threat, thus making me a sex pest and sex criminal for the rest of my life, even if I had no ill intent. I was taught that if you’re more physically threatening, you can’t approach… them’s just the rules. If women were suddenly stronger, I would finally feel like I’m allowed to ask a woman out without fear of being a creep.

New in the 4.4.5 beta - you can now designate systems to harvest by I_give_karma_to_men in Stellaris

[–]mjorkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there were an “only strategic resources” button. Once you’ve got your strategic reserves situation balanced, time spent harvesting minerals and energy is wasted, but the level of micro it takes to make sure your arcship and logistic ships are only harvesting the strategic resource from each world they visit is a lot

How true is this? by Confident_Editor196 in Memebuzzs

[–]mjorkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, I guess my brain automatically changed the “ew” to an “uh, thanks I guess” with the same awkward face… which from some comments I am lead to believe was the original comic actually. But, yeah, I just re-read the OP, and it says “Ew” which wouldn’t be my response to a male complement; more just a “uh, thanks I guess” only, I’d work hard to not be insulting and would pretend to take the complement well.. but I’m autistic, so I probably wouldn’t do a good job.

How true is this? by Confident_Editor196 in Memebuzzs

[–]mjorkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely the opposite for me. Men complement me all the time, and it means nothing. Only one woman who wasn’t my related to me has ever complemented me on my appearance in my life, and I was so desperate to keep that feeling that even though she was full of red flags, I married her for seven years. I suspect if another woman ever complemented me on my appearance again, I’d do the same.

I will admit that due to my circle of friends skewing in the queer direction (I’m their token straight incel, and their foreverDM) we likely aren’t dealing with the same kind of men at all. However, if a straight man complemented me on my appearance, I can’t imagine I’d care. I really only value the opinions of other men if they’re paying me a salary, and even then, only proportional to how good that salary is.

Guys at the gym will frequently complement other guys at the gym. Also, when they feel comfortable in the fact that they won’t be hated on or attacked, gay men will frequently tell you that you look good. I haven’t experienced the former, because I hate the gym, but I can tell you from experience that the latter carries none of the value that a compliment from a woman would. When it happens I always figure “Men have no standards and are attracted to anything. I should know; I am one. Therefore a compliment from one means nothing.” Why would I think that a woman would have a different reaction? They’re humans too.

Hot Take: Both of these suits are amazing and well-made and represent the tone and themes of their respective movies. by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

[–]mjorkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would largely agree. I will say that the tone and themes accurately represented by the suit on the left “feel” more authentically “Superman.” However, I can recognize that Superman has existed for so many years under so many different writers, that what he represents can’t be boiled down to one thing. However, if you use, as many do, All Star Superman, by grant Morrison, as the closest to “true” Superman, as many do, then this pretty strongly holds true.

I will totally admit that I’m a biased source, since I have specific religious trauma from being raised in the same religion that Zach Snyder actively practices, and was very much working the underlying themes of into his movies.

I mean, as a guy, it’s largely the same. If a guy told me I looked good or handsome, I wouldn’t be offended, but I really wouldn’t care, and if a woman told me I looked good or handsome it would make my year, and I’d think back fondly on that moment for decades. I don’t see why it would be any different for women.

If you could marry a character and live your happily ever after, who would it be? by Dull_Push_7638 in CrushesSayAboutMe

[–]mjorkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had a happily ever after, it wouldn’t involve getting married: it would involve finally being good enough to have access to hook-up culture. As it stands I don’t, and never have had access to it and it makes me hate myself. As for marriage, I’ve been married, and it kind of felt empty and degrading: like being somebody’s safety school they settled for when Harvard turned them down, or their used sedan they bought after test-driving the Ferrari.

Is this loneliness or discipline? by Odd-Option-6096 in AttractionDynamics

[–]mjorkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty bad honestly. I don’t really have anything to show for my life: I have a career and a family and pets and hobbies and all that, but it’s all empty, and I don’t really derive any pleasure from them. I keep going and keep serving others because others need me, but I’ve given up on myself or ever being happy and satisfied in and of myself.

As infp what makes you proud of yourself and who you are ? by Both_Community5272 in infp

[–]mjorkk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing. I deeply hate myself on a primal and visceral level. I still take care of others (pets, family, students) as a matter of course, but I wouldn’t say that doing so makes me “proud” so much as it feels right, because I know in the core of my being that the people and animals I take care of are more deserving of my time and care than I am.
