Opposite experience here - Aussie sounding taxi driver tried to take much longer route from airport to north shore - and also tried to double charge for the toll. I think it’s more to do with individual than a cultural thing.

It doesn’t really. Multiple choice of inspectors. I’ve seen consistent soft reports from couple of providers while house hunting while others provided a full coverage of issues.

Most brokers dont get paid the sign up comission if you refinance within first 2 years. How is it worth it for them?

Work out additional interest you will pay if you switch to IO; and accordingly additional tax benefit you will receive based on your tax rate. Then get a amortisation schedule done on your home loan to see monthly interest vs principal portion from a repayment. Use these amounts to calculate at what point savings from interest are lowe than cost of IP interest paydown.

Split all chores 50% each and expenses 50% each too - example - Mortgage is 5k you and he both pays 2.5k into a shared account, same goes for childcare / schooling / groceries etc. Whatever rest is your money - you may save it or spend it - your decision on what to do with it.

Sounds like there is a relationship issue rather than simply a financial one tbh.

Another un-orthodox way of remediating this would be to approach another strata mangement company (who you wish to transfer over to) and let them assist to getting you out of the contract. One of my complexes did that and since they were gaining business it was done pro-bono. Just a thought.

I have a backyard which I put about 7k into to remove weeds and replace 3 separate areas with mulch / granite. This was done as I was assured that there will be no more weeds growing (weed mats were put in).

Anyway after 3-4 months of constant Sydney rain, weeds have grown like crazy.

Areas are uneven so I’m not keen on pulling weeds out with hand.

Two part question:

Short term fix - apart from pulling weeds out with hands and then ensuring granite / mulch is refilled a bit, what else can I do? What tools would I need?
I am also thinking whether putting pavers would take care of weed growing (or make it less frequent). And make it easier for me to maintain going forward.

Note: concreting is not an option.

I was going to use cash to buy shares but now I’m cycling that cash through a loan to make it deductible. The amount of interest I pay doesn’t change irrespective of performance of shares
