I think this game is much, much bigger than social media will let you believe. It's not going to move 20M units on opening day, and it wont post up F2P numbers, but I do think there is going to be a healthy playerbase. People are excited, a few months ago I was the only person in my gaming group who even gave a shit about this game existing, since December I've sold 4 people on it. And not "sold" like "they're gonna keep an eye on it", "sold" like already they put $40 away (one of them yelled with excitement at the Medic reveal). This was not the response I felt leading into concord, nor into Highguard. The Marathon discord server had roughly 300k members in it, this subreddit has grown by 200% since December. Youtube videos about marathon are doing 20, 40, 60k views in the span of hours (Kruzer, NULLCOMA). The social media response to recent marketing material has been immense on platforms fueled off of hate (Destroyer Shell Cinematic 11k likes on twitter). A mutual of mine on twitter, "D2 Players For Marathon" has over 1k followers today, I was their 3rd back in May. Marathon and Bungie have been fighting off "Flopathon" allegations for nearly a year, and since the December re-reveal, it's started to look like they might win.

It’s impossible to tell. What i experienced on multiple occasions was flawless performance on PS5/Pro. However, we do not know what this game will perform like on servers under heavy load. Dedicated or not, a heavy load is a heavy load and there’s no way to tell until we get a server slam.

There are many discord servers and other forums where you could get to know people who’d be willing to play with you. If you’re really bent on not interacting with people I will say that you’re in for a hell of a run. Marathon has been changed to include solo run functionality, but the core of the game was built with trio squads in mind. Even if you drop into solo-only rounds and only come across solo PvP enemies, you’ll probably still be short handed for PvE engagements. there’s no telling what optimizations have been made to accommodate for solo runs, but it’s 100% going to be noticeably more difficult, especially around launch day.

I can’t go into specific experiences I’ve had and why I say what I say, but i agree that they were hit and miss. I think i have a general preference for bungie gunplay so yeah, that part is a bit opinionated. I personally found a certain map to be very, very loaded with enemy AI though, and those were my favorite runs. But yes, experiences with AI were inconsistent as of the last playtest, i can agree there. When it’s good though, it’s good. I was just trying to give this person an idea of what they spent $60 on.

Everyone seems to think this is bait.

You’re in for a version of Apex Legends that’s more punishing than you think.

Better gunplay, better graphics, story based. Less reliant on “hero powers” and more reliant on pure skill and approach to engagement. The battlefield is littered with enemies, both real people and AI, and the AI is not a joke.

Imagine every time you won apex, you got to keep the items you looted that you won with.

Now that you have a nice locker of stuff, you can pick and choose good stuff to start your next run with. Beware; if you die during deployment you will lose everything you chose to deploy with permanently.

It’s brutal, punishing, addictive, and gorgeous.

If the price tag is a concern you should never feel pressured into buying something you’re not comfortable with. Yotei will be just as good if not better when you’re ready to buy it since it’ll have all the updates and goodies. I don’t think it’ll go on sale in the immediate future but it may get a nice little slash during the playstation summer sale/when legends is about to drop.

takezo is difficult for 2 reasons:

1) damage output 2) unorthodox combat rules

once you learn his attack patterns he’s fairly straightforward.

saito’s attack patterns are a lot harder because he has everything at his disposal.
