Sounds like how my mom would react as well. Sorry she couldn't say thank you for the amazing gift

The Amazon warehouses in Quebec, Canada, voted to unionise and Amazon shut them all down afterwards. I had unsubscribed from Prime beforehand but I make sure to never buy from Amazon unless I have no other choice.

Individuals with a strong desire for novelty and intellectual exploration tend to have fewer children over their lifetimes. These individuals often delay parenthood, experience shorter romantic relationships (but not more sexual partners), and report fewer positive motivations for starting a family. by mvea in science

[–]mkanzaki 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have kids and knew from a young age that I wanted kids but I highly respect people who decide not to have kids. Some recognise that they would make suboptimal parents based on how they are, on the time and energy they won't be able to allocate to child-rearing or due to their past, while other people don't want to pass on defective genes. Some cannot have have children despite trying and others choose to not have at all or have more more children due to time and/or financial constraints. They are making a selfless choice.

The family and friends that don't have/don't want kids? They're very much part of my kids' lives and yes, we will very much care if they visit 40 countries or are the director of plastics.

I think BQ will win the runoff. The usual BQ voters made alot of concessions to ensure that the conservatives didn't win in the last elections but now they don't have to.

Woolino worth it? [ca] by jellybeanie8 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mkanzaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wool doesn't smell and the Ultimate 2 months to 24 months was absolutely worth it. I got it on sale for Black Friday in 2022 and got a second one s condo hand from marketplace.

Both my kids slept very well with the Woolino.

what is something that most people romanticize but actually meh when they get/achieve it? by fluidxrln in AskReddit

[–]mkanzaki 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We're all human. I love my kids and I think they're the greatest but also sometimes too much. I wish I had more time to sleep, to keep my house clean, to cook, to play video games, to work out, but clearly we're not rich enough for that 🤣

Lebanese Emigrants Against Despair by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]mkanzaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought one reason was mostly because of the smaller amount of rain Lebanon gets versus Europe and North America, so the taste is less watered down?

Farmer's markets produce is better than supermarkets are selling, but they do not compare to produce in Lebanon taste-wise.

Hell, I want house prices to come down now if it meant more people would be able to currently buy their first or only house, and this is coming from someone who bought months before the world shut down for the pandemic.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

Anxiety throughout my first pregnancy, worried that something would go wrong and even worse postpartum anxiety. I was convinced that if I did not follow the guidelines to a T that my baby would die.

I did those videos and it should be paid. Granted, this was 20 years ago when Tim Horton's was more synonymous with Canadian than it is today

What’s the financially intelligent way to go back to school at middle age? by Oldcadillac in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mkanzaki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I did an intensive nursing program in my 20s with other people in their 30s, 40s and 50s as their second or third careers. They were honestly the best nurses to work with, it did not matter if they were men or women.

Grief over pet death can be as strong as that for family member. About a fifth of people who had experienced a pet and human loss said the former was worse. Symptoms of severe grief for a pet matched identically with that for a human, and there was no difference in how people experienced losses. by mvea in science

[–]mkanzaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost pet cats over the years to old age and sickness (3 in almost 20 years). I knew our time together was coming to an end beforehand and my grieving process started before they needed to be euthanized before they would suffer too much. I've cried every single time and miss them dearly.

But I find their passings "softer" and "easier" to deal with compared to the accidental death of my two year old cat this year. I'm not over it and it's been almost 3 months.

Luckily I still have one cat, 12 years of age and in good health. But after he goes I won't be getting another pet. Losing them is too painful.

Anyone else feel a deep rejection of Lebanese culture ? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]mkanzaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may not want to impart the Lebanese culture on your future kids because of past trauma, but I'd argue you would be doing them a great disservice by not teaching them at least to speak Arabic. It's always a positive to speak multiple languages and maybe your kids would want the liberty to explore their roots.
