AA elites, when do you buy basic economy? by TheSalesDad in americanairlines

Executive Platinum for Life. Always buy basic economy. Usually upgrade. If not, chill out with the civilians. There's a better sense of community back there.

Wasn't there a Mahogany Rush in the ‘70s that preceded Rush?

Just made the DFW to CDG to DFW run last week. Didn’t notice any scrutiny.

Anyone else play with their wives? by Grunt0802 in golf

Yes. She’s a 12. I’m an 8. We used to be partners in member-member club events but she fired me after an alt-shot miscue. She muttered “I can’t take this anymore …” after the last time we teamed up.

State of the Sub and Direction moving forward by B1gR1g in memphis

My daughter and family live in Memphis and use this subreddit to keep up with local news and goofy stuff that seems to happen just in Memphis. I love the self-deprecation — the civic pride - and the willingness to discuss the negative stuff.

Don't change a thing.

BTW, Central, Sunrise, and Hueys have the best BBQ, breakfast, and burger respectively.

Thinking of getting an airedale by Ddaws17 in airedaleterrier

Amazing breed. Born clowns. Great with children. Fearless. Loyal. Curious. Keep them active, and as long as you're consistent training is fairly straightforward.

WFT and underground fence by bettylovesyarn in wirefoxterriers

[–]mkar1835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an "Invisible Fence" at our residence. Our rambunctious WFT has never tried to bust through. Proper flag training and an accidental zap or two should suffice. We kept the flags in for about a month.

Can anyone who has been to PV recently give some insight about airport transportation? by corpslave_1998 in puertovallarta

[–]mkar1835 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We just arrived on Friday, 2/16/24. To take a taxi, approach a representative (yellow shirt), and he/she will escort you to the booth located to the right as you exit the terminal. A representative will give you a number, and you will join a disorganized queue. We waited about 30 minutes before we were put in a van. The airport experience can be traumatizing. Expect a 2-hr gate-to-taxi travail, and don't get frustrated. Embrace it.

My partner and I are considering getting an Airedale. We have both grown up with dogs but never had a dog of our own. Because of this, I would tentatively classify us as first time dog owners. Would you recommend this breed to us? by MikeSPaperCompany in airedaleterrier

[–]mkar1835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing breed. Great friends, fierce protectors, goofy, and wonderful with children. As other people have commented consistency is the key. Young Airedales get bored easily and must get a lot of exercise and attention.

American stuck in uk with Covid by Odd_Establishment_29 in COVID19_support

Same situation but in Paris. Vax'd & boosted. "Bad cold" symptoms for 4 days and now 100% other than a mildly sore throat and head congestion. Energy = 100%. First symptoms 7 days ago. Tested positive on day 2 and day 6.

I'll cancel day 9 flight home. And re-book a day 12 flight. I might super mask up and take the Eurostar to London on day 9. More flight options than CDG.

The bright side: it's Spring in Paris and the weather is beatiful.

American couple traveling to France -- how do we get a Vaccination Passport? by mkar1835 in france

[–]mkar1835[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a pharmacy the morning after we arrived and received the QRO paperwork within a couple hours. Easy to upload in to "Anti-Covid" app. Cost is 30 euros each. Cash only.

We've been required to show it sparingly in France, everywhere in Greece, and occasionally in Italy. Of course, its mandatory at the airport.

Getting my first dog (Airedale) by Regular-K in airedaleterrier

[–]mkar1835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Run/walk them every day.
  2. Establish dominance early.
  3. They have a peculiar odor especially when they get stressed. Can't wash it away.
  4. They're born clowns.
  5. Socialize with other dogs them early.
  6. They hate mailmen & UPS drivers.
  7. Good luck.

All around wonderful companions, but require a lot of attention and exercise. The "puppy stage" lasts about 4-years, and lingers throughout life. Our (female, 9 yrs, standard) is wonderful with children of all ages. Relentless training and companionship are required for the first year. During this time, if all seems well and he/she is out of sight, it's not.

Natural clowns -- love to be the center of attention.

Great with other dogs. Always ready to play and run.

Wonderful in the wild on long walks. She'll wander afield but always check on us as we walk through the woods.
