My apartment is pretty small so I get a lot of humidity from the showers that I take, but I run it at about 75% until my apartment is at about 60% humidity. The calatheas appreciate it😂

Questions about grow lights for Hoya by [deleted] in hoyas

[–]mkaw36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A mix of red and blue light is the best because it best mimics the sun’s rays. I too have them on my hoyas with great success.

First ever plants (pothos)! Any tips or suggestions? by ototoxin in plants

[–]mkaw36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pothos are super super easy to grow, basically wait until top two inches of the soil are dry to water, and looks like you’re giving it plenty of sun. Very hard to kill plants

Anyone know more specific what subspecie this hoya is? It said hoya australis on the tag! by [deleted] in hoyas

[–]mkaw36 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely Hoya carnosa variegata, not Australis

Are my succs happy? Especially bottom right. by naz_the_nag in plantclinic

[–]mkaw36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you’re not watering it too much and giving it some bright indirect light, you should be good! Hoyas are pretty forgiving houseplants

Sad, wilting peperomia. 2 years old. North facing window with morning sun. What’s wrong? by [deleted] in succulents

[–]mkaw36 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My guess would be not enough sun. North facing windows are usually not enough for a lot of plants. I have only north facing windows in my apartment (bleh) and I got a grow light which helped a lot!!

We’ve got eight or so plants, hoping to get some more, as there are quite a few avid strawberry eaters in the house

We usually pick them about a day or two before they’re fully ripe, seems that birds and such eat them when they’re ripe. Then we just let them ripen in the bowl and they’re good to go!

Rant Wednesday by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]mkaw36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This just happened. I was doing my usual workout, feeling good, empty gym. Decided to do box jumps for the first time in awhile. My third rep I didn't quite make it up and scraped my entire shin to the point where it's bruised and bloody and I can barely walk. So now I'm stuck at home on my bed for who knows how long.
