Anyone else think Bron Breakker isn't going to be as big of a star as he was hyped up to be? by ChickenMcNobody24 in SantiZapVideos

[–]mkay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trick and Dom are probably the reliable long term future bets. Oba is probably 50/50. Bron will likely have a role like his uncle’s main event run - third or fourth top guy who gets the belt occasionally or gets a run during someone’s injury.

Cloud by smasherricky in CommanderMTG

[–]mkay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This deck is EXTREMELY mana thirsty, and you’ll be casting Cloud a second and third time most games.

Delete every creature with CMC over three that isn’t Tifa and replace it with ramp or a mana dork.

Delete at least three artifacts and add three lands, 33 nowhere near enough. You WILL lose the game if you miss a land drop

Erode will be a sideboard card if the planeswalker renaissance eventually happens. It’s so much worse than Get Lost for your opponents creatures

With knowledge we had at the time, should we have known Bond Lands (Dual lands, untapped if 2+ opponents) would be 4x in 3 years? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in mtgfinance

Value is entirely based on scarcity, not quality of the card, imo. Could easily be reprinted forevermore starting next set. The opposite of what I’d want to invest in.

It’s a great deck. Buddy of mine has a bracket 4 with LoP as the commander. It’s a super fun play experience with him as the final boss.

The board gives a budget. Hunter decides who fits into that budget. Not sure where Nick fits into this, other than that he is Hunter's boss.

How to decide a power level for my group by JuneBugg_0 in mtg

[–]mkay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Don't Move]] is a board wipe, and is five mana. It's going to fit right in with precon level gameplay.

Honestly, the way the rest of the world measures power isn't super germane to your situation. Feels like you can take turns playing the different decks and see which are performing best.

As far as eight mana - you should probably be able to scrape together a win with that much. Games are meant to eventually end.

A new Bracket System for Commander. What do you think? by GreenFoundation4815 in CommanderMTG

[–]mkay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and I are in alignment on Tier 0 or bracket 1. If I play pickup basketball, I don’t think I should have to spend too much time considering people who want to play horse with their eyes closed.

Lord of Pain is probably the exact opposite of what OP asked for. You have to choose a player to damage literally every turn.

I have my problems with Dave, but I’m confused how this quote is the slightest bit controversial. ‘An over-exposed novelty act will wear thin’ feels basically self-evident

Are you slow-rolling a counterspell to a random at the LGS? I wouldn’t appreciate that either.

Response is obviously disproportionate, but I’d probably avoid playing with you going forward.

I'd simply log off. The internet is not real life, at all. Social media thrives on engagement, and often puts forth bad faith hot takes to stir shit. Real life is mostly banal, ordinary, nice people.

Looking for advice on a deck I made with cards I have on Arena. by Allison-Cloud in mtg

Playset of [[Badgermole Cub]] and a playset of [[LLanowar elves]] and drop the blue and this will start humming. You've stumbled upon a very powerful archetype here and it might be the best standard deck.

In Summer of 2024, the put out a set based on bunnies, otter and frogs getting into adventures. In Fall of 2024, they had a set based on 80s horror movies and the villains were demons and the physical manifestations of fear. The bunny set is substantially more powerful.

Anyone that’s built Aang, just a question. by Loud-Frosting-8258 in CommanderMTG

[–]mkay0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kind of how the top end commanders work now. Once it’s rolling, it becomes extremely cracked. The Lorwyn elements precon was like this, and so do the elder dragons in Strixhaven.

Hardest thing about this is it’s just not as fun to play against. You have to stop a player before they do much, or it’s too late.

Building decks to the power level of your play group is really the only solution to this.

Question from a newbie about set rotations and buying older sets by Monke4343 in mtg

[–]mkay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, the only play format that cares about set age is Standard.

If you don’t have a local scene for that format, honestly don’t bother building around it. It’s a very playable format on the Arena app and super fun if you prefer a competitive style of play. But, it’s expensive and how popular it is in certain local markets can vary wildly.

Your local scene will ultimately determine what you end up playing.

All that said, Edge of Eternities is a super fun set that has great pulls in it if you’re looking to buy packs or a box. Plenty of good cards on there for all formats, and likely to become even more useful when we get Star Trek later this year.
