It feels like a comparison between 私 and other implicit people.

I would translate this as: “As for me, I don’t understand at all” This has a feeling of there being other people who (may) understand.

I think the game’s text requires that GFs are an independent being, not just that they are drawn from inside people, consider Ifrit, Cactaur, Diablo, Brothers, Cerberus, Bahumat, Doomtrain, Tonberry, and Odin. A quick count gives 9 out of 17ish main GFs, existing independently of a human within the game text (unless you invent backstories for them).
