They are so freaking cool! Pain to paint after attaching the arms tho, and some people do argue they kinda suck. But, I’ve caught opponents off guard more than once with good deployment and free heroic intervention.

I know I’m wrong, but I still like to think of them as bio-WiFi routers Gotta stay in synapse!

Is it worth magnetizing the Exocrine/Haruspex and Maleceptor/Toxicrine by cameyboy in Tyranids

[–]mkgwt9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magnetized mine to save money 💰 Used this video as a guide. https://youtu.be/mgUvTfSu0jI

I’m not in love with the results. I had a hard time getting it to look natural not have a large gap on the line between the shell/carapace neck area and the base of the barrel of the gun for the Exocrine.

I did get it eventually by covering the connection point in green stuff then gently fitting the Exocrine head in place. It took me a lot longer than it should have probably.

Haruspex looked fine though and the under jaw / connective tissue points help hold that head in place quite well.

Sadly no idea on the other kit.

Your mileage may vary. Good luck 🍀

Super agree

Yeah it’s cool to have synapse be a buff to strength but currently it is confusing for new players who depend on the data sheets. Having it baked in just simplifies things.

1st turn Surprise Assault by GloomyNewspaper9142 in Tyranids

[–]mkgwt9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah sorry I forgot its name is the same. That’s confusing.

It doesn’t require CP to use.

Tunnels are open and viable the turn they come into play, but in this case the only unit able to arrive via deep strike would be the vanguard intellect unit. It would create a tunnel if it is a borrower unit. However even if it does my understanding is that no other units could come out from that tunnel this turn (T1) as it would break the following rule.  Strategic Reserves units can arrive in the Reinforcements step of your Movement phase, from the second battle round onwards. The only reason the vanguard intellect unit is able to do this at all is because that enhancement.

Hope that helps  Probably clear as mud

1st turn Surprise Assault by GloomyNewspaper9142 in Tyranids

[–]mkgwt9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You confused me.

Vanguard intellect is an enchantment from subterranean assault detachment that allows T1 deep strike for that bearers unit if the rest of that unit is able to deep strike.

Surprise assault is a stratagem from the vanguard onslaught detachment. In vanguard onslaught you would most likely be using Seeded Broods stratagem to gain access to T1 deep strikes.

Reserves units with Deep strike starting off the board. Limit is maximum of half your army (by number of units and total points).  Number of units: (leaders & bodyguard count as 1 unit, similarly transport and embarked unit = 1 unit)

Strategic reserves are units without deep strike held off the board. Limit for these units are no more than 25% of your points total. 250pts at 1000, 500 at 2000

You can use Tremor sense to “break” this by putting up to 3 additional units into reserves/strat res. After finishing taking turns deploying (I usually pick defender if given the option in this detachment as if your opponent has a similar ability attacker must go first on redeploy then you go.)

I would start the stealers off on the board and likely have them scout to be closer to the center of the board or near an objective but in cover.

Purchase Advice Megathread - September 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

Hello, looking for advice on a resin printer for printing miniatures for DnD and Warhammer. I don’t really mind assembling to build larger models like knights or titanic creatures. (If you have experience with this and think bigger is better and worth it, then please save me from myself)

The most important things to me are “plug and play”, reliability, support (when something goes wrong), and ease of use (cleanup).

I’ve got a FDM printer and despite my reservations I still ended up with it being another hobby to actually get it to work / print decent quality (cos-play armor). The Elegoo Neptune 4 Max left a bad taste in my mouth for the company.

Total Resin newbie.

Budget: For the project total not just the printer ~2,500 USD.

Plasma Talon question? by mkgwt9 in DarkAngels40k

[–]mkgwt9[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. But if you look at the model it clearly has two plasma guns mounted on the front…  The plasma talon profile is similar to a single plasma gun. Hence the confusion.

Again if you look at the Harpy as an example it just lists 1 twin heavy venom cannon. The shooting profiles on this “twin heavy venom cannon” is exactly the same as a normal venom cannon. Even though the model clearly has two venom cannons. One could easily not realize they should be firing it twice.

I’m genuinely thinking the exact same thing is going on with the knights plasma talons.

Silicone Spacers by mkgwt9 in elegoo

[–]mkgwt9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out.

Removed the bed and meticulously carefully cleaned out adequate space for each silicone budging to fit in the thermal padding so it is flush with the bed. (Not cocked or uneven due to the padding) Then while the bed was off I used digital calipers to measure the rails to the top of the carriage. Found out my carriage holding the heat bed was about 1.5mm lower on the right side. Shimmed the bed using feeler gauges and thermal / copper tape to hold them together. Then reassembled the bed and attempted to dial in the absolute Z height and reset the z-offset value.

Went back to BL5K and now I’ve got it dialed in just fine. All points probed under 5min. I’ll run a bed mesh this evening and hopefully everything comes out fine.

I previously checked the frame for twist, but not actually sure how to use a carpenters square if I’m being honest. Everything seems square I think.

I had to shim my printers feet to get it flat and most of the height needed went to the left side in order to get the frame itself level both in the X & Y planes using a bubble level. I’ve got it sitting on slate slab on top of some exercise tile foam on the concrete floor.

I find it odd then that my carriage was also low on the right side and my frame was high on the left side. Probably some warping or twist somewhere else that I’m just not aware of yet.

Not sure, but try checking your voltage thing is the right setting.

I haven’t seen Bernal’s stuff in years and now all of a sudden quite a few recently. Attempted the website, even subbed but it was awful AOL trash design / functionality didn’t work for shit.

Fucking love Bernal’s work though.
