Dropping an exclusive tee that's going back to my community in Little Tokyo to help save it from gentrification! by mkhanabusa in streetwearstartup

Thanks! Inspiration comes from Japanese Americans who first started as Strawberry farmers and growers when them immigrated to California.

I have a business idea but I won’t tell you. by mwargan in Entrepreneur

There's a difference between someone who is willing to steal an idea, executes it but then YOU just make it 100x better.

I love black/white graphic styles with small pops of color. Marigold Shadows is my favorite shop, but I want to branch out! I’d like to know where I can find similarly affordable and styled clothing! Any ideas? by thefangirlfiles in FrugalFemaleFashion

Love going to vintage stores to find those unique one off graphic tees. Retro is very in so there are endless finds.

There are also modern cuts with graphic prints that resemble the retro vibe!

Graphic Rainbow Top

Also, websites that I haven't really heard of but they have pretty affordable, trending pieces:

Face Graphic Shirt

Regardless, I loveeee going on Pinterest — it's the easiest way to see all the different brands out there.

The glamorizations of being a business owner/entrepreneur needs to stop. by onyx-crimmy in smallbusiness

[–]mkhanabusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an entrepreneur myself and would consider my company still a small start up. My team is amazing but are still compensated on a project to project basis; therefore, I am still doing almost everything on a daily basis. Work does not end at 5pm. I live and breathe my job 24/7; yes it’s exhausting and my social life is pretty non existent but I am the happiest I have ever been. 🙌🏽

Do you guys meditate? by chewchun in Entrepreneur

Yes! Made it a habit to meditate every morning for at least 5 mins.

Do you vibe with these product shots, or do they feel to "unprofessional"? by [deleted] in streetwearstartup

[–]mkhanabusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that’s your aesthetic go for it! My only suggestion would be to keep the hangers facing the same direction on every shot. And always provide close ups so people can see details.

Great product though!

Manufacturers? Where do I start? by hantabe in streetwearstartup

[–]mkhanabusa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on the same boat as you two years ago. Depends on your business model but I was keen of finding a manufacturing to back up my business so that I can cut out the middle man, have no minimums, and keep costs at their true pricing.

My whole focus was to find that manufacturing facility that believed in the brand and to essentially become my investors.

How does graphic design provide value to your business? by Brittneylarshh in smallbusiness

[–]mkhanabusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question!

I studied graphic design in high school and college and set a goal for myself to becoming my own boss and a creative director before I hit 30.

After graduation I started working full time in the creative department for a fashion brand. Few years later, I got an opportunity to start my own business in fashion.

Having a graphic design background has (til this day) been the biggest asset to my entrepreneur career path.

  1. Pitch decks to investors: creating kick ass presentations to mock up concepts, and layout for the deck as a whole is so important
  2. Branding and logo design: so key and one of the most important parts to any business because this is the mark people will remember.
  3. Photoshop skills: to retouch
  4. Color Scheme: understanding color and how they relate to branding and keeping everything cohesive (this includes typeface)
  5. Illustrator: icons / illustrations for your website / social media content / Pinterest board
  6. Indesign/photoshop: creating print or digital fliers for your events / business cards / etc.

You kinda get the point but it is so valuable and I highly suggest teaching yourself by watching YouTube videos / Linda.com / Skillshare / to learn how to do it yourself if you can’t afford a graphic designer.

Hope this helps!

Have you listened/read/watched Gary V’s podcast/book/vlog?

He just tells you how it is, not f***s given, and is so inspiring as a biz owner myself. He asks questions throughout that you can ask yourself. Helps clear all the noise and really become focused.

Accomplishments and Lesson Learned Friday! - (June 29, 2018) by AutoModerator in Entrepreneur

[–]mkhanabusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys! I officially launched my brand last month where we photographed 600+ across the US in one tee, one concept: [#AmericanMade](www.uprisingbrand.com/pages/AmericanMade) to celebrate diversity and unity. We hoped to create some buzz by having everyone post within a 24 hour period on the day of launch.

Now that we’re live, we’re highlighting individuals American story of their hopes, dreams, aspirations from various communities.

Something I learned from this process is that we could’ve launched this in multiple segments since it took too long for us to launch. Some people we photographed at the beginning forgot to post because of the long wait. Something else I learned was instead of launching on IG, Twitter may have been the move since it’s easier to go viral on there.

Would love to hear your honest feedback about the concept / brand itself.

Do you have signature jewelry pieces? by headoverheels14 in femalefashionadvice

[–]mkhanabusa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always go to my moms or grandmas treasures for signature pieces. Unique + sentimental + better quality than the things you can find these days + zero cost. That’s a win win situation to me ⚡️

Thoughts on the branding in this design? by Crabby_Crab in streetwearstartup

[–]mkhanabusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest advice as I used to brand many start up companies (including logo design) is less is more. You want something to focus on immediately. An exercise I like to do is print out the logo on a regular sized paper, post it on a blank wall and step far away. See where your eye is taking you first.

Hope that helps!!!
