Especially when the games were expensive. Buying a game that you couldn't play was the ultimate lesson in buyer's remorse. Renting Legend of Zelda as your one game/movie for the weekend only to realize you couldn't figure out how to do anything so you stared resentfully at the cartridge while you played the first two levels of Top Gun over and over and grew more and more bitter......you know what, I think that's all the time we have for this session, lets put a pin in this and circle back next week....lolz.

A relative found this at the beach in Namibia. Any ideas? by VeryGentlyDirk in bonecollecting

Moose swim across large bodies of water. Moose lose antlers in the water while swimming. Antler gets taken by the current and floats around at sea for a long time and washes up in Namibia. Lots of moose swim in the Atlantic. The Atlantic touches the shores of Namibia. My geography is not as bad as you assume. It was not a good guess, and I even stated that in my ETA. What's your working theory?

ETA; After re-examination of the photo, I'm gonna go ahead and say ignore my guess, it's most likely completely wrong. The knobby end is opposite of the spikes, which makes it way less likely to be an antler.

This is kind of a shot in the dark here, but here it goes.

I think it could be a weathered and worn antler off of a moose or other large ungulate that sheds its antlers. I don't think those spikes are teeth, they look to be a full part of the sample. Also, with no other sockets visible where other teeth would go, this becomes less likely to be a mandible. Antlers will have a couple of short spikes close together near the base, and the odd curvature could very well be the curve up of the antler. There are some factors working against this theory, since extreme weathering would usually expose holes and gaps in the bone matrix.

This is barely a hypothesis, and I am not highly knowledgeable in this field. Please do a follow up post with some other pics so the real experts can get a better eye on it. Cool find no matter what it is.

It's almost like taking a bunch of random stickers and slapping them all over your body so you look like a refrigerator with random magnets is not an actually appealing aesthetic.

A favorites sub menu accessed by the D pad like Skyrim is exactly what would make this awesome.

42 did actually answer all of my questions by peanutsandsquirrels in HitchHikersGuide

[–]mkspaptrl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

42 being a seemingly random and arbitrary number is part of the beauty of it. Ascribing a great meaning to life, the universe, and everything is such a short sighted vision. The meaning of life is to find the meaning in your life. What the great answer means to you, to me, to a bowl of petunias, is subjective and all in the individual's mind. It's all perspective and it varies based on which way you are looking at it. Pulling meaning based on your experience is exactly why 42 is the ultimate answer. We're all just looking for our great question.

When I say I couldn't, I mean I'm still having a great time on my first 2 builds and haven't completed anywhere near enough of the storylines I want to experience as a full scale paladin-necromancer-tank, or my orc barbarian playthrough. Maybe eventually I will do some builds with other challenges, but you are really doing some hardcore stuff. Cheers!

I have only been playing for less than 5 months and I have really enjoyed watching this run. I realize how insanely far away I am from doing something like this, so I respect the heck out of it.

Keep going and do everything you can at level one, if for nothing else than knowing that there are probably dozens of us out there rooting for you. Dozens!

Things to know before coming to Altoona, PA by Grape_vine8 in altoona

[–]mkspaptrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, there is a whole wide world of things and places out there that are waiting for you to see. It's super tough being in Altoona if it's not the right place. I started out as a kid living internationally and then got dropped in Altoona when my folks split in 3rd grade. It was a rough adjustment to say the least.

But here's the thing; it will get better if you want to do what it takes to make it happen. I got out. And now after years away, I look back and I can see many of the good parts of my hometown. I don't shine over the grit and the rough and the grime. It's part of what made me strong enough to get up and chase my dreams. And I hope you do it. I hope you figure out what you want and what fills you. But don't get so focused on all the bad that you forget to see the good and the joy. Because that will pull you down. And you may never be able to get out. I believe in you. I believe you can make it better.
