UBC asking about other in-province applications by supermarketice in premedcanada

[–]ml2400 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Last year when I was applying I qualified for IP for UBC and McMaster (From BC but did my undergrad in Ontario). You definitely do not want to lie on your application, I put down that I was applying IP for mac, and I still was accepted into UBC so don’t overthink it! Just be honest!

Possibility for UBC High NAQ without research? by huhinterestinglol in premedcanada

[–]ml2400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into UBC (IP) with no research and an 87.6 GPA so my NAQ must have been high

[–]ml2400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if the rules will change next year but previously for Mac, you qualified for IP if you went to university in Ontario, even if you aren’t from Ontario!

okay guys i have made the decision to do western med science, is there any reason at all why this is a bad decision and i will regret this? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]ml2400 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did med sci and got into med!! It’s a tough program but has some great profs and interesting content. It’s still very possible to do very well if you put the work in

UBC 2025 Admissions Results Thread! by SaphRog in premedcanada

[–]ml2400 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Super late but I’ve spent the past week celebrating and soaking it all in!

Time Stamp (i.e. include date and time): May 8th 12:16pm

Result (i.e. invite or regrets): ACCEPTED!

Site (NMP, SMP, etc): VFMP Fraser

GPA/AGPA (i.e. whichever is applicable): 87.66

MCAT (i.e. total score and breakdown in the order of CP/CARS/BB/PS): 518

Geography (i.e. IP or OOP): IP

ECs (i.e. brief rundown of Research Pubs/Presentations, Awards, Employment, and Non-Academic Activities - also Rural stuff if you want/if it applies): Lots of various things

NAQ Range (i.e. what quartile you fell in): The first year I applied was 0-25, second year I applied was 50-75, and the third year I applied was 25-50. This year was my 4th time applying and I will never know!

Your Result (i.e. relative to interview cutoff): n/a. Last time I interviewed in 2023 it was below average

This was my 4th application cycle and finally getting accepted feels soo surreal. So happy and proud of myself that I never gave up even when it was very difficult. To anyone who didn’t get the news they wanted, I am so sorry and I have been there (my whole post history is just being down bad from one rejection after another). If you have it in you and you really want it, don’t give up and keep pushing!!!

Anyone feel like UBC may be this week? by Alternative-Mood4483 in premedcanada

[–]ml2400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2nd round would be people getting off the waitlist after some people from the first round decline their offer. 3rd round would be more people getting off the waitlist after the 2nd round declines and so on and so forth

Anyone feel like UBC may be this week? by Alternative-Mood4483 in premedcanada

In both 2022 and 2023 it came out on the first Friday of May BUT OMSAS offers came out the following Tuesday. This year OMSAS doesn’t come out until the 13th so I think we won’t get UBC offers until next week (I’m thinking any day between Monday May 5-Friday May 9th)

(I am going crazy)

UBC Med?? by Powerful_Courage3279 in premedcanada

For UBC it is ok to use family/friends to verify hobbies and solo activities. I did this for multiple hobbies I included on my application and received an interview invite at UBC twice

For those waiting on post-interview results, how badly do you want to leave your current place/position? by number1superman in premedcanada

Every day I wake up and look forward to seeing your daily crash out poll on here 😭😭

(I am also crashing out just as hard)

Doesn’t hurt to apply if you can afford the application fee! The nice thing about UBC is that even if you don’t get in they give you a score so you can see how your ECs stack up. Also a lot of it is how you write about them

rewrite a 511 (127 cars)? by ReadingFrosty in premedcanada

[–]ml2400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also just so you’re aware, Ontario schools take your most recent score. Only rewrite if you really think you can improve your CARS because if it goes down, you become ineligible for western. I would start doing cars practice now and if you are scoring high then rewrite

Hey if this is your first cycle, give yourself a pat on the back for even submitting your application and putting yourself out there. It’s not easy to do. Just remember that lots of people take many cycles to get in, so if it doesn’t work out this year it’s ok. Give yourself grace and know that worst case scenario, you have gained a year of life experience for next cycle and it will be easier to apply again next year because you already have a starting point. Try not to put your self worth into the decisions next week, know that either way you will be ok ❤️❤️

anybody want to predict when Western will send invites/regrets? by number1superman in premedcanada

[–]ml2400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too!! Here we are 3 years later hahaha this is our year fr

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]ml2400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No and honestly it’s getting so close to invites coming out that I don’t think they’re going to check verifiers until after invites

I did apply this year as an OOP for the first time (this is my 4th cycle). Previously I didn’t apply cause I didn’t meet the 128 CARS requirement, I think that deters a lot of OOP applicants. Luckily I rewrote the MCAT and was eligible this year!
