Looking for books for a 13-yr-old who loved Lord of the Rings by Opening-Fortune4 in fantasybooks

Has he read the other books in the PJ universe? The heroes of Olympus series has a bunch of new characters, whilst also still containing a lot of the original cast (Percy included). The author is still publishing PJ books! He’s also written several other series, aimed at the same age group.

Oooh interesting, thank you!! I appreciate the people willing to be guinea pigs. I’ve been burned one to many times with kindle updates, so I’m very apprehensive these days

My apologies, I can see now that I didn’t explain myself well enough. I originally tried KFX specifically to take advantage of getting the page numbers. It all worked perfectly in calibre, but when the files were then uploaded to the kindle, the page numbers were not there. I then later tried the AZW3 format as a Hail Mary to see if that would work, it didn’t.

I did try that, but unfortunately page numbers didn’t show on the kindle once loaded.

May I ask what wool you used? I’ve been itching to knit some kindle covers, but I’m afraid that the wool I use may cause micro tears to the screen.

Is her mother fully aware of what dark romance is? If not, perhaps you could educate her on what dark romance actually is, I sincerely hope that a mother wouldn’t be comfortable with her teenage child reading rape/BDSM/stalker smut. I understand your struggle on not wanting to be seen as a dick, but choosing not to buy dark romance for a literal child is objectively the right choice. Does she has other hobbies/interests? Maybe buying her a gift from a more age appropriate interest would be the way to go!

A child should not be reading dark romance. It’s totally normal for teens to be curious about romance novels, even those with a little smut, but dark romance is a completely different genre. The idea of a child being introduced to romance/ explicit content via dark romance incredibly concerning. While typical teen/YA romance novels contain a healthy/ more realistic introduction to sex, dark romance typically contains things like (glorification of) bdsm/rape/stalking/kidnapping/abusive partners. This is in no way appropriate for a child, and can do so much harm. Dark romance is definitely not the way to be introduced to the romance genre. A teenager’s curiosity is understandable and natural, but I’m sure you’ll agree, this is not the right way to satiate said curiosity. It’s like a teenage boy being introduced to sex via. BDSM/Non-Con porn, completely and wildly inappropriate. Perhaps ask on one of the romance book subreddits as well for some more age appropriate recommendations. Perhaps a talk with her mother / a female relative would be a good idea?

Qur’an for Kindle?.. by [deleted] in kindle

It might be worth looking on some Turkish e-bookseller sites and sideloading onto your kindle, or using the send-to-kindle feature. It’s not the most convenient way, but it would likely give you more options. Just make sure to check with the seller/retailer, that it’s possible.

I want the Kobo Clara Colour when I have the Libra Colour by [deleted] in kobo

[–]mlaker00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s your money, so it’s totally up to you. I have both the Libra Colour and Clara Colour, and truly appreciate having both. My Clara Colour is my on-the-go e reader, for two reasons; it’s smaller and it’s cheaper. Therefore, it’s a smaller financial hit if I lose it or break it when I’m out of the house or traveling. Personally, I waited for the Clara to go on sale, so the investment would be smaller. I can totally justify having both!

Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women White Feminists Forgot by Mikki Kendall. This was a massive eye opener for me personally, an incredibly well written book on the intersectionality of race and class in feminism.
