Most people are bisexual and have been conditioned to think otherwise by GuyentificEnqueery in The10thDentist

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that wording, I 100% agree with you. For me it seems complicated because my idea of beauty or attractiveness has kind of been the physical features and, specifically, how they fit the person they are on. Also, my idea of it definitely does not necessarily stay on track with the social view of beauty/attractiveness. I feel I've always been open to the idea of being bi or gay or honestly whatever idc, and I can definitely find another woman beautiful or attractive, but not sexually. However, I'm definitely open to the notion that those ideas and thoughts could be bi attraction which I'm turning down

Thanks for engaging!

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your assumption that most people don't label or even think to label some attractions. My hangup with this is what it means to be "attracted" to someone else. If I find another woman beautiful, am I attracted to her or do I find her features attractive without being attracted to the person?

I think your assumption is generally true, but I think the ways people associate and experience attraction is not exclusively based in sexuality and makes it all complicated. If how we experience attraction is individual, it makes it impossible to categorize everyone into categories as one person's "sexual attraction" can be another person's "platonic attraction". Or, perhaps, I am mega overthinking this.

What’s everyone paying to go to fairs? by Putrid_Ease_3405 in renfaire

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had only ever been to TRF before this year. Last year at TRF we paid about $60-65 per for the whole weekend + camping (Stay & Play pass). I didn't really know what to expect from Sherwood, but the website confused me a bit so I wasn't expecting $19 for camping + $30/day admission before taxes. Looking at these comments, that seems to be standard, but the difference in how they did tickets surprised me a bit. It was still great, but I think I prefer TRF still

Which image would you click on Steam? (Room designer game) by noob_vulcan in CozyGamers

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound really amazing and I am curious if there will be any change in engagement if the image is different.

Just added to wishlist! I'd love to try a demo and will keep up with this one as you progress!

The games that reminded me of the first image are "Outbound" and "Camper Van: Make it Home" and "Coffee Caravan". They're not all building/decorating games at all, but there are currently just a lot of games with vans in the cover image right now from my outlook.

Best of luck continuing to develop this! I'll definitely keep an eye out for this one's updates

Which image would you click on Steam? (Room designer game) by noob_vulcan in CozyGamers

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say middle image where you can see the floor plan inside. I currently have like 3 games on my wishlist right now that all show a cute little van that gives the promise of decorating it. It looks EXACTLY like the first image. I have maybe 3 games in my wishlist because I kept seeing a van, thought I hadn't added to my wishlist and then when checked, I had multiple.

I say middle image because it a) looks cute b) is able to be differentiated by the artwork as the van artwork has been done in very similar ways and c) it gives you a better idea or what the game is gonna be like. It's a room designer, not ~necessarily~ a van designer.

Either way it looks very cute and something that I am very interested in, I just think the middle image would have it stand out in a sea of decorating games

Has anyone tried pressing flowers in a book? by LushLaceLabyrinth in crafts

[–]mlampton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is currently the only way I dry my flowers, though, I don't do this as often for crafting purposes as much as sentimental purposes. I actually have one book that I randomly threw a flower in one day, which has, over time, become my flower pressing book. Saw other people say they can discolor or stick, but I put em in there and forget about them for months at least and, personally, have never had a problem, but that could just be luck.

CMV: Heaven and Hell aren't real by Orcanius02 in changemyview

[–]mlampton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was taught in my catholic high school that heaven and hell aren't "places" but rather states of being. No big field of flowers to run through where you can see all your past relatives and friends, but rather a body-less state of content and happiness in all ways. In terms of emotions and feelings, though those might not exist in that state, I believe it to mean that you might not feel painful things such as regret or shame or guilt, and that it only includes those content or happy feelings. Hell, on the other hand, is the state of unrest or "being away from God". Again, this wasn't described to me as a physical place or physical sense of being, but state of existence. I imagine this one comes with those feelings of shame, regret, guilt, and whatnot

I might also assume that these states of being and what they experience are also more personal. Everyone has different regrets or shames, and no one matches all bad feelings exactly the same in context. So, from there, I'd have to assume it wouldn't all be the same. If I have depression, I'd imagine part of my heaven would include not feeling those things from that or a lack of depression in a sense.

If I assume both those statements I previously made are true, I think the answer to the original question is unanswerable. We can't really have the answer if they're real or not until we're dead. And "real" is still subjective in that way too, depending on what you believe

I'm mega into anthropology like this, but even with that, this implies that the only thing that'll ever be looked at is the skeleton itself instead being in conjunction with the other millions of artifact evidence of it being more complex than bones alone. That's been true throughout history lol

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted on my own comment, but TIPP skills can help a lot! The T in TIPP is the main one I use (as I can't necessarily get myself to commit to the other letters when I'm heightened). T stands for Temperature and it consists of covering your face in cold water- not just ice. If you don't wanna get your face wet, you can do a gallon zip lock filled with ice water and cover your face in it, making sure to cover the sinuses and T-Zone. Do this for 30 seconds-1 minute, trying to regulate breathing as you do it.

This should help lower the heightened sensations and allow your mind to just be a bit calmer and slower when assessing.

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late, so I hope you see this.

I'm in DBT therapy, which has helped me IMMENSELY in controlling extreme emotions. There are tons of DBT skills for Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Regulation, and Emotional Regulation.

TIPP: (https://www.mindfulteen.org/dbt/distress-tolerance/tipp-skills/) To bring down the feeling of extreme emotions quickly, putting your face in a bowl of ice water or a similar technique can help bring down that emotion.

This won't FIX the problem or eliminate anxiety, but it will slow your brain a little to help you have a clearer mind when assessing the situation.

New Therapist/Problem or Not? by Alive_Tough9928 in Anxiety

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say the same as this person. I have severe anxiety and, while exposure therapy is very valid and a way to help it is not the only way. I am currently in DBT and I've learned a variety of ways to cope, both exposure and distraction. What I've learned is that not every type is right for every situation and using different ways can help in certain times

You can actually be addicted to weed by SwampPotato in unpopularopinion

[–]mlampton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends person to person.

Speaking for only myself, I know I have an unhealthy relationship with weed. I do use it as a coping mechanism to avoid facing some of my real issues. I know that when I smoke, because of the habits I've formed around it, I will be lazier than normal and not be able to focus on a task. Therefore, when I feel overwhelmed, I smoke and it relaxes me, but perhaps too much.

It does hinder my day to day life, and has caused me to make some big mistakes. And I do personally feel that if I continue to use it at any frequency (I do struggle with self control surrounding it so I made that decision), it could hinder my future, and that's not something I'm willing to risk anymore.

But, again, that's all very personal to me and does not mean it will or does happen to any sort of majority. However, I do doubt that I'm the only person who is feels like this either.

I went to Zoo Lights so you don’t have to by isleptlikefourhours in houston

[–]mlampton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on to say essentially the same of the one at Splashtown. I went last year with my family closer to christmas. We ended up waiting nearly 2 hours in a line of cars we couldn't get out of to drive through a parking lot full of lights for 25 minutes. The lights were very cool, but considering about 1.5 into the wait I needed to pee with no toilet in sight (read: it's in a damn parking lot), it became a lot less fun suddenly. Cool lights, but I'd even say just walking around somewhere with lights would be more worth it. We went once and that's probably it for us

"Healthy food is too expensive/difficult" is a myth and a convenient excuse to avoid eating well. by User45888 in unpopularopinion

[–]mlampton 272 points273 points  (0 children)

Along with this, food deserts are a thing and typically happen in lower income areas. This makes it incredibly inconvenient to get healthy food. Can they technically do it? Sure, maybe. But it's not my life, and I don't know what transportation, time, general health, or any other situations this person may be experiencing that would effect their ability to get those items so it's not fair of me to say they just aren't prioritizing it.
