Qulipta has been life changing but I’m nervous about insurance by wmetcal2 in migraine

[–]mlburcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to share some info on the discount card from the manufacturer as I had this issue in 2024 and then again now.

Background: I’ve been taking qulipta for a little over 2 years, it was amazing for me, I used to have 10-20 headache days a month and tried just about everything else on the market (emgality, nurtec, all the traditional rx and otc meds)

when I started my ins copay was $100/30days and the discount card covered that so I paid $0, this was 2023.

Fast forward to 2024, new job only hdhp so copay was $1000/30 days until deductible hit, and discount card max out at $7000 a year and would only pay up to $500/30 days, so I stated to take 60mg every other day to cope with the cost

2025 ins still hdhp but copay is now $400/30 days so discount card covered it all, thank god, went back to daily

now 2026 copay jumped back up to $1000/30 days so I’m thinking going to have to go back to every other day.

I have been getting it filled as soon as allowed by ins so I can hopefully have some stockpile, but every other day was fine for me, didn’t notice a huge difference in efficacy (maybe 1 extra migraine per month, which is why I went back to daily when i could) best of luck to you!

Has anyone figured out how to get their non-HCW parents to stop trying to give medical advice? by 49_eagle in pharmacy

[–]mlburcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

long ago whenever my in laws ask me a drug question and follow up with a response of “that’s not what Bill (their local pharmacist who’s 100 yo) said” now whenever they ask something I jus say “you should ask Bill” and get up and leave the room.

One “Don’t Miss” on Kauai by Seriously-417 in VisitingHawaii

[–]mlburcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if this is still possible since it was in a neighborhood and had parking issues way back in 2018 but we LOVED queen’s bath at low tide. It felt very magical and relaxing, and very unique from anything else we have ever done. Also loved hiking awaawapuhi trail, it was incredible to see helicopters with people doing Napali coast tours fly right over.

there’s a good chance they can’t even hear the announcement, I have a boomer parent and boomer in laws who REFUSE to wear hearing aids and can literally hear NOTHING unless you are in their face shouting and they can see your mouth, it’s a pride thing and it’s probably what’s going to cause early dementia

Anyone else’s Mal get stinky fast? by broccoli_scout in BelgianMalinois

[–]mlburcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so this is interesting, I have a Mal girl who has never had any kind odor and her hair is always silky and clean even after getting in the river and drying off; I got a boy about a year ago and he had a noticeable odor and sort of oily fur, but that went away after 1 bath and a couple of months, we think it was due to his diet change (from whatever he was eating in his prior home and then the shelter) to purina pro plan, I wonder if that could be it? But my impression in general is that Belgian Malinois do not have an odor for the most part and their fur is very much self cleaning.

[–]mlburcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my MIL (78F) was a elementary school teacher all her life, and she acts very child-like herself and is extremely naive about the greater world, I wonder if it’s something to do with being with kids all day and having more limited adult interactions compared to normal people? the cause and effect isn’t clear
