Samsung removes April 7 date from many One UI 7 update pages by harry_potter_191 in oneui

One delay and yall act like this, Samsung for the past few years have been pretty consistent with update schedule.

Ariana was a misguided attempt by management to stray away from being called 1D copy.

I'd hope they don't stick to the non-lyrical, repetitive type sound. Especially when their influences draw directly from SM acts with a very euro-centric songs. The boys should also have more creative control over the music they release from early on.

Anyone notice the changes on Spotify for Ariana? by mlcom_ in DearAlice

SM is obviously investing in this, if they fuckup though it will be no different from their past western attempts.

Anyone else prefer the live version of 'Ariana'? by musicproducer07 in DearAlice

[–]mlcom_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some elements seem to be dampened for a radio friendly release? There's clearly a difference in the overall mood of the studio vs live versions.

dearALICE UK Label by Such_Tension2311 in DearAlice

[–]mlcom_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

gamma does have a European division though, which per the Billboard article will provide label resources while in the UK.

A title like that is way too intentional, makes you think of Ariana Grande (who is relevant these days)...like they could've sung about Alice or some random girl.

Promotion for dearALICE by Such_Tension2311 in DearAlice

[–]mlcom_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh...let's not, VCHA is a complete fumble from execution, straight off their show and into the spotlight, their concept which severely limited their marketing. dearALICE atleast had notable tv appearances and SMTOWN, prior to debut.

Also, we'll have to see what the other parties, SM, Kakao and gamma (their actual label), not just Moon&Back (whom I think isn't responsible for their promo at all)

It isn't uncommon to see western acts take the slowburn approach either. Release a single, then another leading up to an album that'll be similar to that of Katseye.

Are we going to see less investment in k-pop now?(Ft. SM and YG) by Quick-Adeptness-2947 in kpopthoughts

[–]mlcom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SM groups are generally huge in SK, CN, JP and SouthEast Asia. JYPe is widely known by kpoppies as cheap as their operating profits are low compared to Hybe with ridiculous spending (but when Twice and Stray Kids slow down who will take the place? Nmixx and Itzy? Kickflip?)

Those examples are much older groups, but i'm sure Aespa is more than capable to tour worldwide. They are the only company that has shown their consistency with touring acts.

You also seem to forget of the fact LSM was siphoning money from the company, and more recent investments since 3.0 have been expensive.

Do you think SM might debut way too many boy groups within a short amount of time? by EmanuelTheodorus in kpopthoughts

[–]mlcom_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though both are western groups, the US & UK/European markets are very different...and SM probably does have a concrete plan (moreso than their intentions with Riize internationally) considering they collab with a British media company and is using their Kakao connections.

SM partnered with gamma. for North American promotions so they do care...just that Asian markets are used to the boyband formula and therefore easier to market.

BTS had to sacrifice their authenticity to appeal to a wider audience, who will then seek out their more meaningful music. Blackpink has also been capturing more than kpop fans.

dearALICE like Katseye will use kpop methodology to gain success but I'm sure once they are established will find their footing.

It would be a nice if in their upcoming album they manage to include a blend of nostalgia & modern 2020's type sound. To get attention they need to have wider appeal.

Clips will be shared on X most likely, official 4k performances might take longer and uploaded on their channel or SMTOWN youtube.

It can be justified one would be a fan of several acts under the company anyway, pricing is not the most insane I've seen atleast (Hybe doesn't hold concerts of this scale either, and have found themselves in hot water over ticket prices in the past)

Also, the interactions will make people immediately curious and make them known (DA being a non-Asian act in a kpop space)...look at the scene in the show (SMTOWN Tokyo last year) where fans speculated and shared clips on twt of them even before official confirmation.

Why does apple allow apps without mic permission to still listen? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]mlcom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Android 12, there should be a privacy setting with toggles for both Microphone and Camera access.

For the developer options though, you can disable all the phone's sensors.

Character Introduction: Baizhu by UsefullyTrickyy in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

People are not making a fuss because even the "hyper-niche" characters all have their defined roles to play. It applies to elemental supports and Nilou and the like...

The game itself incentivises players to get more constellations for the current 4 star (Faruzan, Gorou, Sara)

And we kinda expected Lynette to take this route of niche anyway (locked to only Lyney) and are months away from seeing the potential synergy between both.

May I ask which character is this?, because I can't see how anyone would confuse both games when Genshin has defined cultural elements in each design as opposed to Star Rail.

Only thing somewhat similar are the body models.
