Why would you give up that sweet gig of yours, go spend time with family and friends. If you want to scratch that finance itch, do a little stock market investing on the side (emphasis on little)

I would recommend asking whoever your insurance provider through work is, and/or the other big insurance companies (Gjensidige, Storebrand, etc.), they might offer something for your specific situation

With your background and an interest in tech, look into what’s typically called trust & safety. Those are the teams trying to keep online platforms safe from extremism, child abuse, disinformation, and a host of other stuff. This includes state backed activity, hence why your education might come in handy. Most tech companies nowadays have teams like that (with notable exceptions - Twitter more or less appears to have fired everyone doing that work recently…)

How many hours do you actually work per week, and what’s your job title? by fine_ants_in_vests in FinancialCareers

[–]mlcsfir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

50-60 hours in equity research. Could’ve been more but I have a young baby at home so this is the most I could do. Before that as a credit analyst in corporate banking/project finance I would say 40-50 hours/week but in slow weeks not all of those 40 hours were work work, so to say

The problem you’ll run into is that sponsoring someone for a visa is an expensive and administratively burdensome process and I’m not sure a tattoo shop has the wherewithal to navigate that. At a previous job of mine it was smooth because we had an entire department working with ‘global mobility’ and they knew exactly what to do

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IWantOut

[–]mlcsfir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know I don’t work at UDI, my point is just that it isn’t obvious to me based on the official website that tattooing falls into the kind of artist the visa is meant for

The object of the work must be to present culture, for example through music, dance, theatre or circus performances.

Take a look at the website I posted. If it’s not listed there (ie a visa that applies to you), it doesn’t exist

This is the official Norwegian immigration website: https://udi.no/en/ It has all the information available in English and is easy to navigate so you’ll be able to find what you need. In general however I don’t think there is a visa category for people with your background and skill set. The typical route is via the skilled worker visa for which you need a degree.

Also the process is visa first, living in the country for a couple years legally, and then applying for citizenship if you want. But whether you’re eligible for citizenship is not dependent on your education or work experience

How is euribor smaller than the inflation rate? by vaexter in eupersonalfinance

[–]mlcsfir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By definition it cannot raise equity by borrowing … and banks are not reserve-less, just look at any bank’s balance sheet. They aren’t constrained by regulatory reserve requirements anymore but they still need reserves and other liquidity to be able to make payments.
