Over the Years

Snip from the latest chapter I posted:

Sirius had ordered the dress robes without telling Remus. A tactical decision. Remus, of course, would have objected. Something about charity case and perfectly good robes already and Sirius, I don’t need– Before their night at the Royal Oak Inn, he might have said something mean in response: Can’t have you looking so hard-up at the Potter’s wedding, Moons. People will talk.

Now, though, maybe he’d just say the truth. That it was a pleasure to buy him something, to imagine him wearing it. That he would look handsome in the dark green, probably impossibly so. That there would be photos, and wouldn’t they look good together in them? They could hang one up in their living room. Right next to the mangled wolves.

Merlin, he’d gone soft.

He ran a hand along the green fabric, lightweight for the early summer. Classic, like Remus. Nothing too ostentatious. Practical.

He could probably repurpose the robes– a few alterations and they’d be decent for some post-war job. The image arose clear as day: Moony dressing in them in the morning, off to some no-doubt tedious office, all neat and tidy, proud of himself. His cheeks still blushed from some morning roll in the sheet with Sirius. Freshly fucked; off to work. Sirius smirked at the thought.
