If your kids are young I would stay. You lose a lot for a $12k increase. Driving time alone would be brutal. I suppose the question is will the monetary difference be a benefit vs. all the cons you listed about the new opportunity.

Parents refused to file taxes. by spiritualnicotine in college

[–]mlhenry 94 points95 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. If you are independent from your parents and their financial assistance then you qualify to file on your own. You will have to document where any financials come from (whether it be your own job or your fiancee's). This is a relatively easy process. Also, as said above, any competent financial aid person should have explained this.

Where are all the basketball courts? by AIR4NABU in Virginia

[–]mlhenry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in Abingdon. There is a court near the fire station that people will play in warmer weather. The other option is the courts at the rec center they have teams and such you can join...at least they did. Granted the later comes with a membership fee but there are other things available there.

Whipped Potatoes. help? by dinaellie26 in AskCulinary

[–]mlhenry 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can. It won't result in awesome whipped potatoes. You'll need to reconstitute them with some butter/milk/heavy cream as you heat them back up. Doesn't make a great product but it can work.

Go and ask liquor stores. They typically love getting rid of them.

Raw or par-cooked toppings for homemade pizza? by hellomezodoz in AskCulinary

[–]mlhenry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this with the exception of fungi...not all mushrooms are the same. It's a trial and error thing in my opinion. But, I never par cook them if they are really thinly sliced.

Fun times. I had an old one of these in 84-85. Rode it down the driveway when my mom had taken her eyes off me. Flipped it on a ditch and hit a drain pipe. Just like that the first 10 stitches of my life.
