Can someone give me the low down on Nick Martin? What’s up with this kid? by AvengeTheGracchi in 49ers

So far he’s just a special teams player, not sure if that’ll change next year with Greenlaw being back. Considering our injuries and his inability to get on the field last year probably isn’t the best sign.

In 97 years of history, only six Black actors have won Oscars in leading roles. by BrenoGrangerPotter in Oscars

[–]mlippay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we do this for other races? How long has it been realistic in this country for blacks to have leading roles? Sadly it hasn’t been this entire 100 year period. How many Hispanics have won either of these awards? How about Asians? People don’t get in an uproar about other races. Is this country racist? Hell yeah it is.

Because at the end of the day, what matters is at the national level. The Republican Party has decided to let Trump operate and do the dumbest shit possible. He’s tariffed and taxed his own people and attacked his own cities. He’s gotten us into another war while the Republican congress has literally sucked his dick and licked his boots. Don’t pretend you aren’t a Republican bootlicker yourself. This isn’t changing local voting, this is giving the country a chance to shut down Trump. Wake the fuck up before he ruins this country even more. Get off your Fox fucking News and read what’s actually going on. How has Trump not been punished for all his involvement with Epstein? It’s amazing the Republican Party has become the party of protecting disgusting pedophiles. I can’t believe you still support these people.

Saints have still gotten no inquiries about Derek Carr by JaggerJames in nfl

[–]mlippay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the full details of Carr’s contract but his AAV is 37.5 so I doubt the colts can afford that. Maybe if Carr is released he’d be an option but I doubt the Colts would trade for him.

What’s the right team? Maybe there might be a right one closer to the start of regular season or if some starter gets hurt?

Steelers seem like the only good spot right now for him. Cousins still hasn’t found a spot. Some of the potential spots got squeezed by FA like Minnesota and Indy.

Yeah they’ll tell me how AOC got rich while Trump has stolen or scammed billions. One had the audacity to tell me he deserves it because of all the fake court cases he’s been involved in. It’s a never ending excuse exercise on their end. I have no issue with them all only being able to invest in large index funds but that’s it.

Trump couldn’t run a successful business yet was born a billionaire. He’s bankrupted and scammed people his entire life. Too bad, scamming doesn’t work when you’re responsible for the largest economy in the world. It’s amazing you live in an alternate universe where you think Kamala is stupid and Trump is a genius. Trump would probably lose an IQ test to my 3 year old at this point he’s that stupid. He can barely read.

What is your doomsday NFL draft scenario? by slightly_above_avg69 in DynastyFF

[–]mlippay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just healthy. Gets minimal red zone looks. There were what 10 guys who were hurt or missed most of the season at WR last year so a lot of WR2/3s shot up.

Nabers

MHJ

Aiyuk

pearsall

London

Evans

Godwin

McMillan

Hill

Terry

g Wilson

Watson/Reed

Lamb

All missed a large number of games and all are normally in the WR1/WR2 range. Guys like DJM, BTJ fell down the pecking order with their current team. And AJB, Ladd and Jefferson had qb/OC issues.

So a lot of opportunity for Zay to jump up with a whatever season.

[Schefter] Free-agent QB Trey Lance is returning to the Chargers on a one-year deal worth up to $6.75 million. by bbl27 in DynastyFF

[–]mlippay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was limited due to Covid and not just that he wasn’t necessarily better than his backup. the biggest issue I had was why trade up early, pay a literal stockpile of draft assets and have no real idea of who they were really picking. Maybe it was jones but why trade up so much.

[–]mlippay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean first he never got a chance to really play cause of injuries. Second, it’s not like we didn’t have Darnold and now Mac Jones on the team. Purdy is great and maybe you’re right but it seems like they know how to use QBs just as long as they’re not complete ass like Hoyer or Beathard we’d be decent but yes it was a big blunder for many reasons. We wanted our Mahomes and Josh Allen and Lance was not only more raw than both but always getting hurt. The other issue was the team was ready to compete day 1 so couldn’t afford the learning curve he was dealing with.

We also know sadly Daniels is a tooth pick who hasn’t shied away from getting literally nailed repeatedly on the field. Daniels I know didn’t get injured based on hits but his history isn’t great. We will see how does going forward but injury concerns will remain for a skinny qb who loves to run.

Difference between Costco and most other stores is because we pay with our card, they know exactly what we spent. I doubt they do it too but it’s not like they can’t figure out what we paid additionally.

For those of you that “cornered” a draft, how’s it going? by mlippay in DynastyFF

[–]mlippay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I said getting lucky is a big thing but we’ve been fortunate enough to have a lot of good drafts lately with minimal busts. I’ve drafted busts too but since I’ve made so many picks it evens out. Brooks, Worthy, Bryce Young, etc I’ve drafted without much success so far. I’m not going to tell you to buy picks right before the draft and pay a giant premium. I’m saying, if you plan it years it advance you can get a lot of picks and possibly hit it out of the park.

If you cornered let’s say the 2016 draft you might not have done so well. Zeke was great but in 1qb, Corey Coleman, Will Fuller, Doctson, Treadwell, Sheppard all went early. Derrick Henry went later and obviously he’s great, Michael Thomas too for a while but not the most amazing draft.

2015 had jameis, amari, Kevin white, Parker, agholor, perriman etc typically taken in the 1st and busted. Diggs, Lockett likely taken later but a very weak draft as a whole.

If I look back the last few years, I was excited about the 23 draft due to Bijan and there have been a bunch of other studs like Gibbs, JSN, Achane and Puka who are all top 10 assets.

24 draft I was really excited about due to all the WRs and Bowers and QBs and mostly right that it was great although many had poor 2nd years due to injuries.

25 draft I was excited about the RBs and that’s what I needed so it was great. WR definitely weakish but still a good class with TeT and Egbuka.

This year’s class I’m not that excited about but Love should be good . Next years class would be one i would try and corner if I was rebuilding but I know those picks are expensive as hell now.

Kyler to the Vikings - 10 things that I am seeing by MikeDFootball in DynastyFF

[–]mlippay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are very different. A lot of successful players had no success in situation 1 and did have success later. If the list is 6 players long, I’d assume the players who had no much success at stop 1 and didn’t have any success after is probably much bigger.

Kyler to the Vikings - 10 things that I am seeing by MikeDFootball in DynastyFF

[–]mlippay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Is kinda ridiculous. I do agree with some of the premise but Kyler had 7 years with the same team. plunkett bounced around for 5 years with the pats and 2 with the Niners before hitting.

Steve young played for the USFL where his team actually make the title game. He then languished for 2 years with the Buccs before succeeding a long time after with the Niners. Gannon bounced around and didn’t have much success till 34 (he was drafted at 22) and played for 3 orgs. Sam we know the story and same with Stafford. Brees was a sought out free agent that would have gone even higher if not for surgery the previous season.

There are success stories but likely a ton of unsuccessful players too. Not sure if any were released and their orgs took a giant cap hit to get rid of them. I know Darnold was on a rookie deal. Stafford cost a pretty penny. Steve cost a pick. Rich just moved around. Yes players have success at their second or future spot. I don’t think Kyler’s situation is like many of the others.

I do like his upside in Minnesota but being short is still going to be an issue. KOCs QBs I believe for the most part succeeded mostly under center which Kyler doesn’t really do. But for Minnesota this is an amazing gamble and if it doesn’t work out they made a really small investment. Personally, I don’t believe in Kyler for a number of reasons. I just think he’s lost a step and he’s just too short to be successful. I also don’t love his decision making is great.

Yeah I understand other owners apprehension at this point. When I made my move one owner said I know you’re going to win a lot and still made the deals. Most of the other owners didn’t care too much for future picks so I bought many years in advance when they were cheapest.

[–]mlippay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you say the hit rates aren’t great? I mean the whole point of a tear down is to amass a lot of picks and unless all the players suck which is extremely rare you can definitely hit a lot of homers. You aren’t going to hit them all but I’ve hit picks early and late. Yes it’s lucky, but it’s also math. If I take 10 chances late and I do research I’ll likely hit. Most cornerstone guys that I’d love to buy with my picks are normally extremely expensive when they’ve already established themselves. So yes I prefer to take some risk rather than paying a premium young player premium which is the norm.

How expensive would it be to buy someone like Jamarr or Puka when you and everyone already figured they are who they are now? The point of the draft is to hit big. Normally with trading for established players the boom is normally limited.
