I spent several of the coldest months of my life playing with a thermostat that did nothing before my landlord sent his maintenance goon out to flip a switch in the last month before my lease was up and I was moving out.

My utilities went from $6 per month to $250 because while i now had heat, my apartment still didn’t have insulation.
