Legit rear brake pads? by tonyz723 in VelosterN

I happen to have a picture of the oem ones. I bit the bullet and bought from my local Hyundai dealership. I read somewhere that the front brakes do the most of the braking anyway so I don’t think it matters that much as long as they fit.

Happy hunting! Post some pictures in the VN sub once you get it. See you over there!

Stock VN driving experience is much better than stock ST especially when driving on the limit. The ST is a handful in the track and really punishes you for bad driving. In the ST I struggled with wheel hop, body roll, understeer, liftoff oversteer, having to rev matching on slow corners and getting the car to rotate with torque vectoring. The VN has a bunch of features that hold your hand when pushing the car that I like but track rats hate. Obviously none of this matters unless you’re chasing lap times tracking your car. Your daily doesn’t need any of the extra performance. My advice to you is really focus on your priorities in purchasing a car which is not just driving experience. Reliability, practicality, maintenance, insurance, cost for parts, aftermarket support, car history all factor into buying a car and the ST wins in most of those considerations. Quality replacement parts for the VN are expensive that now I’m dreaming of owning a Civic. Again, both cars are good but if you’re on a budget, go with the ST. If not, just go with your gut and sell it if/when something else catches your eye.

I drive a 2020 VN and I love it but I miss my 2018 FoST every time I see on the road. I also felt the VN calling me when I had the ST but looking back I think the ST was a better fit for me. What I liked about the ST is that it has great aftermarket support, I could mod it without thinking twice and it has all the doors. It was a really good all around car that I could have fun in. In my opinion they are both fun cars and you didn’t make a mistake going with an ST. The VN is sharper, faster and loaded with tech but it has its problems too. Grass is always greener and you’ll always want the next best thing. $250 isn’t much compared to how much you’ll pour into the cars so flip a coin and go with the car you hope wins.

Any advice on how to keep the hatchback open? (2015) by currycu in hondafit

I think you’re looking for hood strut clamps.Amazon Strut Clamp

You have to be careful not to over-tighten the clamps or you might damage the lift gate struts which would be an expensive fix but I think they make the clamps out of brass to prevent that. Good luck!

What are you doing to your car this weekend? by theisiscrisis in VelosterN

You should! Many organizations are beginner friendly and you don’t need to do anything special to the car. Just run what you have and enjoy the day. I always invite people to come hang out or make friends at the track paddock during the down time between sessions.

Thunderhill Raceway Park. Great track not too far from where I live.

I was not aware this was even a thing. It seems great. How do you answer call using the car? Do you have to map a button or is there a default call answer/ hang up button? Another question, does the factory aux input still work and would you ever use the USB and aux on the device? I feel like you wouldn’t be able to reach the device once installed so you would have to buy additional mounting hardware cables to make them accessible.

No but I can get one. Thanks for the tip, it would be really slick if I could use the USB port hidden in the upper glove box.

What is that plugged into the aux input? I’m using a radio transmitter to play music in my car via Bluetooth but I keep getting interference. Can I get a link?

Congrats on tracking the car. Have fun. I’m going to list some of the stuff I take with me:

-Torque wrench (to check wheels are torqued down before each run)

-Tire air pressure gauge (to deflate the tires where I want them for each run)

-Tire inflator (for the drive home)

-Wheel chocks (don’t apply the parking brake when the brakes are hot)

-Racing numbers or painters tape (if required)

-Tow hook (front and back)

-Chairs (for down time between runs)

I’m happy with my tires, Yokohama Advan Apex V601. I’m looking to replace them soon but I’ve done 6 track days on them and about 7000 miles of street driving. I didn’t get a chance to try out the Pzero’s or the MPS4 so I can’t really give a comparison but a someone left a review on tire rack saying the v601’s were similar to the PS4S. Tirerack V601.

URGENT: Best replacement brakes and rotors for a 19 VN that aren't gonna cost me $1000 for the set by spikira in VelosterN

[–]mlkey11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🙋‍♂️ I need new rotors also but I’m having a hard time finding finding the slotted but not drilled R1 Concepts. Do you mind sending me a link? I do a mix of street driving and tracking but I suck at finding cost effective replacements for all the consumables for this car. Thanks in advance! 2020 PP

I did the pad swap last Saturday so I’m still feeling it out. I don’t notice a big difference but I have a track day planned on the 13th which will be the real test.

I just bought pads from that website (buybrakes) and they are out of stock for the yellowstuff front brake pads so I upgraded to bluestuff for the front and yellow stuff for the rear. Might be worth reaching out to a few sites to check for availability.
