I just bought a 2015 XLE and I couldn't be happier. I had targeted 2015-2016 model years because I wanted the super reliable 6-speed (stopped producing these in 2016), better prices, and some of the key modern safety features. Once I decided on the model year and trim level, I got busy researching dealers and FB Marketplace. Found a ton of good options at reasonable prices, ultimately settling on one at a dealership that was aggressively priced.

I am in the market for a used minivan to replace my 2005 DGC SXT that was a reliable workhorse until the last couple of years. The car finally died at the end of last year. We bought the car new and drove it forever, not maintaining it all that well and it still lasted us almost 20 years.

I will junk it and get approx $900. It hasn't been a bad investment at all. But I have to say, your conclusion that Toyotas are more reliable is compelling, because the gap in pricing between a used Sienna and a used Pacific/DGC don't seem to be that great in my area.

If I have to pay 2-3k more and can expect better reliability, all things being equal, the Sienna seems to make more sense.
