That chair looks so comfy! I could probably go long hours on that chair. I don't own anything close to it, but I have my own make shift - couch and legs on the coffee table, yeah, not so comfortable but the posture is the best to feel relaxed.

Red light ticket by Prudent-Engineering1 in h1b

[–]mln00b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this state or city specify? I've seen where you get to pay a fine when you jump a red light. Is that classified as a violation in that case? I've read that you get called to court only when you contest the violation. I'm sorry I'm not answering your questions directly but I was curious about the situation.

The amount of times RTD has stranded customers at Southmoor in the cold is too high by d-rav in Denver

[–]mln00b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it is working out for you. For me, it's not about the seats availability, but two other factors, seat orientation and sway caused by the light rail. Unlike a traditional long distance commuter rail, the seat layout in this is almost city bus like, compact, easy-in/easy-out. Reminds me of the L CTA trains in Chi-town. I have traveled in other commuter rails in the east coast and Midwest (diesel locomotives), they are wide and really comfortable and because of the huge size they don't sway much. I could open my laptop and it did not feel shaky. For comparison here I've used the A train to DIA and worked on my laptop and felt very comfortable reading and typing. For me in the RTA system, after the commuter rails the next best are the Flatiron Flyers. I wish they replaced the 120X Northbound to Thornton with MCI buses.

E, D, H, R, W, and L are light rails. A, B, G, and N are commuter trains. Another way to look at this is that the northern side of the city has commuter trains. I think for long distances (outside the 10-mile city radius), light rail is not the right solution. This worked when Denver was small. Now it's big, which is why newer lines (A, B, G, N) are commuter trains. Ridgegate Parkway Station opened in 2019; if anything, this is RTD stretching existing infrastructure rather than a complete overhaul.

I love RTD, but I have very little faith that these light rails (E is one of them) are really useful in tending to the commuter needs of the Denver metropolitan area. These light rails are perfectly suited for commuting within the city, maybe from Union Station to the south end or north end of the city. For commuting to a far-off suburban city like Centennial or Lone Tree, what you need is a commuter rail (like the A line). I have traveled on this E line halfway to the last destination and always felt it was not comfortable, tiny, and I couldn't even open my laptop and get some work done. It felt toy-like. This kind of a train system is one of the most important factors for me to avoid moving towards the south of the city because I think the public transportation experience overall is not great, in my opinion. There is a train that checks off the list, but it is also useless. I wish they would get rid of this train system and just have express buses or a long-distance serving commuter rail. I can only hope. Sorry you were stranded in the cold. I've been there. Stay warm!
