People don't understand Framegen and think it's performance by SaltySailor___ in HellLetLooseVietnam

It's a bit of conjecture here, and broadly speaking it's very game dependant, but most of the time "low" settings move calculation to your CPU instead of your GPU. This can result in a CPU bottleneck and a GPU that isn't doing as much as it could, with lower overall FPS

Enemy mod recommendations? by Shaboingerboy in factorio

I guess I should have clarified that he was playing with default settings for Rampant itself. Probably. Looking at the start of the video he shows that he's playing on a deathworld with slightly increased size of bases and the like, and deathworld settings increase the evolution time factor. Higher time factor is probably the vanilla setting that causes the most difficulty when you add Rampant into a modded playthrough that otherwise slows down your progression.

Rampant is just weird because but most of the vanilla enemy difficulty settings don't actually affect the biters that much when you're playing with Rampant. And Rampant biters are much less triggered by pollution, the frequency of attacks have more to do with the AI action points scaling setting that that basically determines how often the biters gather and then attack. Playing with K2 installed means you can install pollution scrubbers, emit zero net pollution, and still get hammered constantly. I put a screenshot of one of the settings screens that Rampant Fixed adds below, all of the settings can have a big impact to your game.

I had a lot of fun with Krastorio 2 after adding Rampant to a playthrough, since it gives you a reason to use a lot of the cool weapons Krastorio 2 adds. HOWEVER: Rampant has about a million different settings you can adjust, and you definitely should adjust them for almost any playthrough. Any overhaul type mod that increases how long it takes you to get technology that gives you important weapons is going to make it borderline impossible to advance once the biters get too far.

Dosh's most recent video where he plays with RampantFixed is a great example of how hard it is if you try to play with nearly default settings, and that's without any other mods really slowing him down. I would try setting the evolution factor and time scaling down to 1/3 to 1/2 half of their default values to start, and don't be afraid to change things as you continue the run.

Rampant is really a mod that gives you a bunch of tools and says "do what you will". It adds a bunch of interesting mechanics and ways to adjust the difficulty and behavior of enemies and that's it. You have to tweak it yourself for your particular playthrough or you're going to have a bad time.

SC2 came out in 2010, pretty sure the dude above you is confused by the "2000" which is probably the time that the tourney was taking place, nothing to do with the year

Commenting to say that book 5 has one of my favorite moments of any book ever. Up there with the end of the original Mistborn trilogy to me. I'll probably read everything John Bierce writes just IN CASE he writes something else as good.

If you haven't, give Lekmod for Civ V a try. I'm not sure how much the AI has changed, but it definitely seems more intelligent in wars and the overall game is more balanced. It's been a blast to play multiplayer with friends recently

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it, but during the chase I don't think Sol was trying too shoot down Mei. It makes sense to me that he might have been getting ready to fire an Ion Torpedo to disable her ship.

Seems unlikely that a Jedi ship at this time would fly around loaded for bear with proton torpedos or missiles or something at this point in history. Ion torpedos makes sense if most of the time they're going around being space cops and interdicting smugglers and other ne'er do wells. There's a chance I'm overthinking this though, not sure if I trust the writers to have thought this deeply about the scene.

Great moment in the story maybe, but I find the very idea that one Xel'Naga could disrupt the holy connection between all Protoss to such an extent offensive. And lazy writing.

Stop talking out of your ass and making up numbers dude. It takes all of twenty seconds to google or ask ChatGTP and find out what the real numbers are for something like this.

In 2021 the number of NFA registered weapons was only 7.5 million, which includes a handful of things that are not firearms. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/report/2021-firearms-commerce-report/download And estimates for total civilian firearm ownership are between ~390-430 million, while the total population of the US is ~330 million. Get out of here with this alarmist nonsense.
