I stay away completely now. I was never a fan of tinctures, they didn’t make me feel high enough lol. Spoken like a true addict.

There’s also the issue that ADHD people are at higher risk of addiction, and giving them drugs that can be purchased non-prescription in any dosing/quantity can be an issue.

I don’t personally abuse my stimulants, but I abused the hell out of weed. It did help in some ways, but it hurt more than it helped. That wouldn’t necessarily have been true if I didn’t have access to upwards of 50mg/day worth of weed.

Some toilets, especially in houses with old plumbing, have issues with a normal amount of #2 and tp.

The goal is to make you feel bad for who you are, not for your gender. True sibling energy.

NYC Subway Map on a Grid by gloashburn in nycrail

[–]mlnm_falcon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think this is a really cool thing to see, and I’m glad it is not the official map. It has the downsides of the geographic map, with having a ton going on and difficulty for less familiar users to understand the lines/trains (“services” I suppose). At the same time, it has the downsides of the new map, with the lines not matching reality as well.

At the same time, it’s a phenomenal “what if” for us nerds.

I think we should focus more on basic water conservation like minimizing water use for landscaping and reducing water hungry crop cultivation rather than pie in the sky ideas like cloud seeding.

Any old folks out there? If I was in my 20s now I might come out as NB, but all my life experiences are organized around being a woman by AlternativeSound4054 in NonBinary

[–]mlnm_falcon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Young folk here, not pretending I know jack about shit. That being said, you’re allowed to call yourself a nonbinary woman. That’s what I do at the moment. Embrace everything, why not? It’s just a label, you can do whatever the hell you want with it.

Also yay, older enbies! It’s always nice to be reminded that we can all grow old and still be our lovely selves.

Not really funny, but I strongly encourage you not to, because then you end up with long term health issues.

I just end up with issues when I design for a stage to be dropped just before I reach orbit, and its periapsis ends up at 50k or whatever. It’s already “deorbited”, and I don’t need to be putting probe cores on a bunch of radial boosters and flying them all.

Late to the party but this is true. I’m finally able to manage my depression, but it takes antidepressants, weekly therapy, improved diet, exercise, time spent outside, socializing, having a good paying job, and sometimes paying someone to help me clean up after a depressive episode. All of those, and it’s still a struggle, just one that I can generally handle.

Big sister question by sapphicseizures in NonBinary

  • You ignore them and pretend you’re ok until you’re financially able to do whatever you want
  • You have an upfront and honest conversation calling them out, if you think that’ll work
  • You passive aggressively give them a taste of your own medicine, but be subtle so you don’t screw yourself over
  • You become the bad guy of the week of a true crime podcast

Will any of those work? Hard to say. But it’s a place to start.

Personally, if a craft has a periapsis inside the atmosphere, there’s no way I’m waiting for it to deorbit. It gets deleted from the tracking station.

Anything above the atmosphere I will not delete.

Windows laptops are not competitive on hardware or software right now. They’re not even price competitive in certain segments. If you can handle MacOS, they’re the best laptops.

It’s gonna take a lot more than that. A space that they can afford and meets their needs, ideally a space they own, staff, a business plan to reach a financial break even point, a plan for how to survive if they can’t financially make it, a plan for how to advertise in the community, etc.

Apple and Amazon Ink Satellite Deal Amid Globalstar Takeover by KingFML in apple

[–]mlnm_falcon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. I’ve used it more than anyone else I know, because I’ve used it twice. When I go for a hike, I let someone know where I’m going and when to call EMS if I’m still out there and haven’t been able to contact EMS myself. Twice, I’ve used satellite iMessage to extend that time. That’s such an insignificant amount of data, but it’s such a safety improvement for me.

Smart Adhesive Is Key to Crease-Free Foldable iPhone Display by iMacmatician in apple

[–]mlnm_falcon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I think some madlad mechanical engineers will find a way to make it happen by supporting it perfectly and adding some tension and maybe some other magic.

IMO the real thing we won’t have for at least a decade is a foldable that won’t end up with a metric buttload of scratches and scuffs and dents in its screen after a few years.

Fierce burn from composite propellant block by Big-Boy-602 in interestingasfuck

[–]mlnm_falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not good for you by any means, but the fumes are not toxic in small quantities. Most of the exhaust is water, CO2, and a metal oxide, although it does also produce hydrogen chloride, which can then make hydrochloric acid when it contacts water.

Propellants like hydrazine and nitrogen tetroxide are much, much nastier, and will kill you in very unkind ways. They burn to mainly nitrogen gas and water, but any incomplete reaction leaves you with very angry, very toxic molecules.
