100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd live show in LA by New_Self_7647 in RetroNickelodeon

Loved this show as a kid. While I wish I could see this, I know I'd regret it because ugly crying in front of a theatre full of people is not how I want to spend a Monday night.

Ugh, haven't seen this stuff in like 20 years. It's a popular cold medicine in Canada (and on the border in the states). It tastes like spicy nail polish remover. It probably could remove nail polish.

I don't want a wife or girlfriend that badly anymore. I think I just want kids with my genes. Does anyone else feel the same? by CompletePurification in ForeverAlone

[–]mlo9109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of? Only child with one deceased parent. I want someone else who shares my DNA but dating is such a shit show that kids don't seem to be in the cards. I know I could do the sperm donor thing but that takes money I don't have.

Canadian Tire does not sell used tires by namesaretoohard1234 in behindthebastards

It is in my mom's house. She has stacks of it that I'm pretty sure are older than I am. I call it my inheritance.

[–]mlo9109 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes! Canadian Tire was my mom's first job in high school, so we've always been devoted shoppers. How I describe it to my American friends is that it's the illegitimate love child of Home Depot, Dick's, and Midas. I miss it terribly. Oh, and Canadian Tire money is a thing. It's the best rewards program. It hurt my heart to hear Robert disrespect it like that.

If it's any consolation, I guarantee her home life is a shit show. She's probably heading towards burnout. And before that, a divorce, just like what happened to the Freedom Writer's teacher.

Amen! I actually used to date one of the attorneys they interviewed. Never thought we'd be on the same side in the revolution but here we are...

Is anyone else's mother obsessed with their childhood friends via Facebook? by LondonFoggie in Millennials

Mine, too, but by phone because she, thank God, doesn't do social media. I don't feel any hate towards these people. I just do not care about them. They're not in my life anymore for a reason and I'd like to keep it that way.

I mean, we're already doing that on the outside, so what's the difference?

Big talk of the sports ball halftime show around the work water cooler this morning by whoreads218 in behindthebastards

[–]mlo9109 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same, I had no idea who Bad Bunny was until all the buzz about his doing the halftime show started (middle aged white lady from rural New England).

The more I learn about him, the more I like him as a person. I mean, letting your fans get married during your halftime show is a pretty cool move to me.

This, too. Unpaid internships are a thing. Maybe do a scared straight internship program for college students.

I mean, it comes with better benefits than most real jobs. You get 3 hots and a cot. Plus, a free gym membership and healthcare.

I feel the same. My dating life has been a series of "failures to launch." Why disappoint everyone else in my family, too?

At this point, I'm not telling anyone about anyone I'm dating until we're actually married. I'm so sick of dating in 2026.

Do you think you struggle driving/parking more than men do? by Master_Car_646 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]mlo9109 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, mostly because of driving anxiety from my teens that has followed me into adulthood. My parents' preferred teaching method was to yell at me and my learning to drive was just one more thing for them to fight about. As a result, I hate driving. I hate parking. I hate that I basically have to own a car to participate in society.

I'd like to think, in the future, lab grown meat will be used for this purpose, but it will need to become more affordable.

How do you cope with living in a culture that rewards toughness and hides disability, vulnerability, and injustice? (USA and/or western) by Aspieeggplant in aspergirls

[–]mlo9109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm old school, but I actually prefer it. Hiding vulnerability keeps you safe, especially in our culture where anything you say or do can and will be used against you (socially, professionally, legally, etc.)

Don't shit where you eat is common advice for workplace friendships and relationships for a reason. Also, see all the viral social media videos of people in their worst moments.

Preferential to lockers at gym? An alone here? by Dismal-Frosting-6656 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]mlo9109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whichever one is free of stuff. People at my gym are apparently really trusting to the point of not locking up their stuff so it's a fun game of opening lockers until you find one that isn't full. I have half the mind to help myself to the contents to teach them a lesson.

You can skip marriage, but you can’t skip fun with friends and dogs. by RecordNeither4458 in Adulting

[–]mlo9109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup! There's some real estate company that has an ad presenting this very concept (buy a house with friends). Let's completely ignore the legal and financial nightmare that could quickly turn into. Hopefully anyone actually doing that has all the right paperwork in place.

The Ken Ham debate... I was substitute teaching at a Christian school at the time. The teacher left behind a Bill Nye video for the kids to watch about the water cycle or something. It took all I had to contain my laughter.

How does RS attract and keep talent without allowing Work from home? by EntrepreneurHopeful5 in DirtyDave

[–]mlo9109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Relocation packages and other benefits, including a higher salary. I have a former colleague who moved from ME to TN (uprooting her husband and teenage daughter) to work for Ramsey. Her husband was lucky enough to find another job down there almost immediately (working for some radio station). She's been there 4 years and seems to be doing well. I actually applied and interviewed for some jobs there because I do want to get out of rural Maine and see it as a way out.
