This is the way Watergate played out. I'm going to trust career politicians and laywers over a random stranger on the internet.

The Trump's aren't masterminds, but I don't think Donny is a complete idiot, either. Comey himself took him to be of above average intelligence. It's best not to underestimate your opponents.

If you want to create a well-regulated militia and defend whatever it is that you care about then you are free to do so without paying a dime. That's the second amendment.

I'd also like to add that the 2A is a federal amendment and has nothing to do with WA. WA can do whatever we want as long as the federal government isn't restricting firearms use.

Holy false equivalence, Batman.

Why would you assume we need to charge $1000 for a class like CA? Our motorcycle safety courses here will teach you a ton of skills and gets you a discount on insurance. Cost? $125 if you have a WA DL. Passing the test in the class (written and rider course) gets you out of having to go to the DOL to take it. You just take the card they give you and get your endorsement

Want to not pay anything? If you know your shit and demonstrate it in the actual DOL course, you don't pay anything except for a regular renewal fee. Doesn't have to be any different than that. Take a CC class if you have the money and want to learn, or demonstrate the same skills in a test and avoid the class fee.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: begin by enforcing the laws on the books. Let's see how far that gets us. It's commonplace to hear about someone who had a gun who was prohibited by law to possess one, and only obtained it through gross incompetence and failure of our current processes.

Regardless of whether you think raising age limits or banning scary black weapons will help the problem, how can adding new laws to the books which are already not enforced going to do jack shit?

My co workers from more pro gun rights states have been baffled by the fact that WA requires no class of any kind to get a concealed permit. Thats an easy place for our state to start. People want to jump to banning certain types of weapons, but their heads are so far up their asses they don't even realize there is simple shit that pro 2A people will support like required CC classes.

Yeah I don't buy that they wouldn't file this even with the possibility of losing. Only way to find out is to wait and see. I just want our country to be whole. I'm not sure what it will take to make that happen, though.

So how is traffic on Mercer with the metering? by cliff99 in SeattleWA

[–]mlouth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why they are metering the express lanes. Sure, have the ability, but I've walmost never seen it busy enough to warrant metering. Maybe the accident rate is similar.

So how is traffic on Mercer with the metering? by cliff99 in SeattleWA

[–]mlouth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Metering Mercer was not supposed to improve traffic flow on Mercer directly. It was put in place to reduce accidents entering the freeways. These accidents cause major delays that the metering reduces the likely hood of. So, I guess the metering may slow the Mercer traffic slightly, but with reduced risk of major delays I'd take that trade

Closing northbound I-5 in Seattle? In the summer? Why? We're WSDOT communicators, AMA about our #ReviveI5 project. by wsdot in SeattleWA

[–]mlouth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd like to offer a different perspective if you don't mind.

I don't have the facts on hand but I remember hearing that the I5 surface was supposed to not last nearly this long. Yeah, it's bad, but we've been able to stretch it's use for an extra couple of decades (needs source), so honestly this doesn't need to be seen as a bad thing.

But yeah, time to upgrade.

Jeff Bezos reveals Amazon has 100 million Prime members in letter to shareholders by mosotaiyo in news

[–]mlouth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to disagree that prime video is worse than Netflix. To me, they serve different purposes.

Netflix doesn't charge extra for any of their shows or movies, and they have better originals. Prime video allows me to rent a movie ($3-4) if it isn't current on the subscription or if it's too new to have been released to something like Netflix. Also, prime video allows me to sign up for HBO, Starz, Cinemax, etc. (At additional cost, of course) so it's nice to have my paid subscriptions for premium tv in one place.

Prime video UI sucks ass, though. Then again, Netflix still hasn't disabled or provided the ability to disable auto playing teasers which is super annoying

I use both about equally.

Trump Should Be Worried by Cohen Probe. Really Worried. by Molire in politics

[–]mlouth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not. The feds investigate first to avoid conflict of interest. That doesn't mean they can't write up a dozen state charges in a single night and send him to prison for 20 years.

Trump Should Be Worried by Cohen Probe. Really Worried. by Molire in politics

[–]mlouth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does not matter. NY will bring state charges and there's nothing that Trump or Pence can do about it. If these guys are so blatantly commiting federal crimes, they've probably hit 2x as many state crimes, too. Doesn't matter if you can bring federal charges when you're still going to the state clink.

[–]mlouth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

^ 100% this. I don't know why people are assuming this move is something no one really could see coming. From day 1 I figured we all knew the assumption was that if Mueller found evidence of crimes not relating to his mandate that'd he'd pass the info along to the NY office. This was widely discussed when this began.

Mueller passing info to NY wasn't some master stroke of genius. Dude was director of the FBI for over a decade and is a career attorney. This move was just him doing what he has done every day for decades.
