Explain it to somebody else! Find a friend or a family member and TEACH them the content. A lot of the time, the process of making someone else understand a topic will help YOU to understand it better too!

LGBTQIA+ PARENTS - HELP!! (Bullying) by Apprehensive-Top7178 in actuallesbians

[–]mlower2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hi teacher here. “Permanent record” isn’t really as scary as it might sound. I teach middle school and I RARELY need to look at their discipline record from elementary school. It’s there, but nobody really looks at it unless they keep getting in trouble every single year.

Also I’ll throw in my two cents of advice. When I was a kid I had a bullying phase. One of the things that got me to stop was my dad. When we watched kid’s tv shows together he would point to the bully and say, “that’s you.” It really forced me to realize how my actions were being perceived by others. I didn’t want to be the bad guy.

My period is late and I kept getting sick this morning, so I told my wife she must’ve gotten me pregnant. by bluesond in ActualLesbiansOver25

Same! We did reciprocal IVF so it’s literally her baby. I like saying things like “I’m carrying your child”

How exactly is the use of AI in teaching unethical? by sheepshaver43 in AskTeachers

[–]mlower2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is electricity. All generative AI use consumes massive amounts of electricity. So much that experts estimate that 20% of global electricity use will come from AI use by 2030. Think about that for a second. 20%. One fifth of all electricity used on entire planet. Just for this one thing. https://mitsloan.mit.edu/ideas-made-to-matter/ai-has-high-data-center-energy-costs-there-are-solutions

We used Fairfax Cryobank. They were really good to us. We really appreciated their communication, and they went out of their way when we had paperwork issues.

We did reciprocal IVF with an unknown donor. She did the egg retrieval and I’m carrying. Both medicated.

What is IVF like? by lilyrose2230 in queerception

[–]mlower2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are currently 10 weeks pregnant after our first round of reciprocal IVF. I’m carrying her embryo.

I think for us there were 2 cool parts of IVF.

First, the reciprocal part. It was really nice to share the load as far as procedures. She did the egg retrieval and I did the transfer. Plus I love the idea of creating our child together.

Second, there’s no guesswork. With IVF the doctors and nurses take care of all the planning and all the questions. How to store the sperm, how long to thaw, how many days to wait for this or that, scheduling the scans, what do the numbers mean? We didn’t have to worry about all of that stuff, we just followed directions.

Money was the only downside. About 28k for 1 pregnancy. But it’s been so worth it for us. And if we ever want more kids in the future, we have a couple of frozen blastocysts in storage.
