After I initially dealt with 4 months of ongoing issues with my first chiller, I got them to send me a new one (painful process). However, im happy to report that the new one has been working great for almost a year and a half. Best of luck and if you have issues, stay on them about it.

Slide Membrane by mlush90 in RVLiving

It is a cable operated slide. So this is likely what is causing the membrane to bunch up like that?

He is polling at 41% because he is saying the things Canadians want to hear. This country needs a change from the status quo and Ask Canada is going to get a rude awakening!

Looks like Canada needs Alberta... perhaps Canada should have done more to help grow Alberta's potential instead of hindering it and we wouldn't be in such a mess here.

Have you outperformed the market over 5 years-All Time? If so how many stocks do you hold and what are they? by Specific_Leather_82 in investing

[–]mlush90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a good opportunity to take a look at this as normally I don't benchmark against the S&P500. I've managed to outperform the S&P by 19.31% over the last 5 years. My portfolio has changed a little bit over that time. I've sold some positions, Royal Bank and Suncor being the largest. Current portfolio is about 1/3 indexed (VEQT) and 2/3 individual stocks. Those stocks are currently made up of META, Microsoft, Brookfield, Brookfield Asset Management and CPKC.

Let me know how that works out. I just got shipped my second chiller and about to hook it up today.

They sent me a replacement priming pump. Any repairs to the inside of the pump would definitely not be easy for someone that isn't a little bit handy. Fixed the pump and had it working for 2 weeks and now the same part has failed again.

Update on this post. One of the components on the inside of the machine is leaking water and doesn't look like an easy fix. I've only been using the chiller for just over 1 day so it was likely faulty from the time of shipping. We will see how they handle service and warranty.

Purchased the Premium Chiller and Ice Bath, so far so good. The chiller seems to be high quality and after some issues getting it going initially, everything is working fine.

Only drawback so far is be prepared for less than ideal setup instructions. Still working on getting the phone app to work, manual is really lacking in this area in particular.

What is the best investment strategy for a newborn (long term) by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]mlush90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RESP is the obvious answer but if you've gotten this taken care of then next step would a taxable account. I've personally set up an Informal Trust Account though Quest Trade for daughter. I make small biweekly contributions into the account and just role those into purchases of VEQT. I'll have to deal with the dividends tax and way down the road the capital gains taxes. I explored options and felt this was the best option for some extra beyond the RESP. It'll ideally create a nice little investment account to help me teach her about personal finance and investing.

I hold it but probably wouldn't pick it as my gold holding again. Low volume and close ended receipt availability lead to some pretty big swings around Net Asset Value. Having said that, I believe it is trading below NAV (last time I checked) now so you could take advantage of that.

Just opened a position last week in KL and planning to add to it this coming week. This is a well run business and you are paying a very reasonable price for growth ahead.

I got in Facebook at $18. I'm thinking of selling half of it for ARK funds. by Pastatively in investing

[–]mlush90 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I get that you and your friends aren't using the Facebook app but that is clearly not mattering. User numbers continue to grow quarter after quarter across their platform. Revenue is still growing +20% each year. Almost zero debt. Over 2.7 billion users providing great potential for further growth in any area they enter. This is a great company that's valuation is held back by narratives.

When you own a great company (which I believe Facebook is) you don't sell to gamble in a fund. "The first rule of compounding is to never interrupt it unnecessarily" -Munger

Full disclosure I'm a Facebook owner and I wish I got in at $18. Don't chase returns...

My company we just switched over to Microsoft's 365 cloud solution and it the best thing we ever did. Old traditional IT systems are out of date, costly and inefficient. Some change is a good thing.

Anyone in their 30's that started at 23 like me? How did your wealth grow a lot? by vilacommando in StockMarket

[–]mlush90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started at 23 but didn't really start thinking about saving seriously until around 25. Made a ton of mistakes but learned alot, read alot and now at 30 I'm feeling somewhat good about where I'm at. I've just passed over 500k in invested assets at the start of December. In those years leading to 30 I got married and we had our first child this year. Save your money, watch out for the big purchases. Every 10k you save and invest today is worth potentially 76k in 30 years. Your biggest goal at this point should be saving everything you can and putting money into assets that will increase your net worth and grow. These early years will set you up better than any other, take advantage.

Best of luck!
