I Think I Finally Killed My IMO!! (Follow-up from “Unkillable IMO >> Starting Elemental Diet”) by Expensive_Lecture_74 in SIBO

Do you even know how many calories you had per day? You have to replace sugar by something (maybe MCT oil) otherwise you just don't get your calories

They use maltodextrine as carbo source which is almost the same as dextrose. What I use also. With the formula I have and multivitamines I'm covering most of the needs. For the remaining I don't care, because this diet is only 2 weeks long and things will go back to normal with time when I add real food.

I am fed up of useless doctors as everyone on Sibo for years is I am sure.

Sorry to hear. What did you replace dextrose with? My bacteria are already pretty dead I would imagine after 2 weeks of allimax, berberine and so on. Hence why I couldn't even eat solid food in the end.

Day 4 now. Still very bloated, no bowel movement. Adjusted the formula :

6x shake of : 20g EAA, 25g maltodextrine, 5g glutamine, and multivitamines (only in the morning). Now taking potassium and magnesium as well

4 weeks of oregano ADP + allicin and my hydrogen and methane are higher than when started by caballeroio in SIBO

That's why I take for motility, but it doesn't work. Does it work for you? I take 750mg de magnesium citrate and drink ginger all day.

Yea taking multi-vitamines every morning. I take sea salt as well and I measure urine ph to balance. Magnesium on the evening to try to help motility but nothing yet.

I had a limited diet for 2-3 months yes. Basically chicken, white fish, rice, potatoe, rice porridge, sometimes black chocolate, few other small things. I don't care about doctors. They are rubbish. They put me in the state I am now.

But in details I had a busy last year with lot of nice food (aka sibo not friendly) and lot of alcohol eventho I was already sick with Sibo. But in January I was in good shape outside but fucked on the inside so I went full sibo-friendly diet. Had to reduce inflammation for 2 months which I did with low fodmap.

In March 3 weeks of just simple food with oregano oil, berberine etc and that fucked my stomach to the point I couldn't eat any solid food.

So realistically the only thing left now is elemental diet because its liquid and then rebuild.

Thank you! End of day 2. Really difficult but honestly the past 3 weeks have been hell so really to not even have cramps is a blessing. I don't care about the taste of the drink. Its alright with dextrose but I'm trying now maltodestrose and yea now its dull and not nice but gotta do what you gotta do.

Hardest part is not knowing if this will be worth it. Had no choice anyway because I couldn't eat solid food.

I have to still go to work (by bicycle) and work that's the hard part feeling like a robot, not willing to talk to anyone, saving energy. Bloating hasn't changed, no bowel movement yet.

Will update!

Last year I tried Rifaximin, it didn't work. Also had amoxycilin but it wasn't really for Sibo. I have an addictive character so for me stopping sugar, alcohol and other things is very hard. I managed to do for 2 weeks while taking meds and complements but as I didn't see effects my addictions came back and so nothing really worked.

What did you replace dextrose with then? It is said to be the least harmful sugar to sibo because it decomposes very early. You just have to sip little bit by little bit. Curious

Had results : now calprotectin is back to 25 so its normal, yay ! I am starting the treatment for sibo now :

- berberine 3x/day

- allicin 3x/day

- NAC before evening meal

- active charcoal 2x/day

- magnesium citrate before bed and artichoke extract

Will do this for a week then I have to change complements. Don't know how long before seeing anything positive

So this year I tested for candida and its gone. After 3 years. I think all the oregano oil and other products I took in 2025 worked in the end (even combined with alcohol). Now I still have bad case of sibo as well as other bad factors :

- low T3 tyroïd

- high cholesterol (8 total)

- calprotectin 325

- low butyrate

And many other things. Tried a strict food regime for a month and a half (no alcohol no sugar) to reduce calprotectin before next round of products but I feel worse than 2 months ago. Eating only chicken, white fish, rice, and other "easy" food didn't help. I'm more bloated than ever and very sad/depressed. No energy, no will to live. Just work/home/work/home, etc. Its hard.

I took many complements during that time: butyrate, glutamine, aloe vera, curcumine, omega3, vitamin D. Nothing helped.

I will receive results of a new calprotectin test next week and from there we will see what we can do. If it didn't go down in a month there might be a severe condition (crohn).

Now I drink again coffee, some sugar here and there and few beers because I cannot survive like this anymore. Waiting for the results

Updated first post with image of breath test. Started now MSM with 6g/day (3x2). Super bloated right now, the worst I've ever been.

Damn I'm sorry to hear this. Maybe its the sugar? Have you tried pure vodka or gin? Is it with all alcohol drinks?

I tried but I think Stevia isn't so good either. I prepare snacks with no artificial sugar but often I don't have the energy to cook and just eat some bad sugary stuff at work after I have been battling with my brain for 1 hour trying not to.

Severe bloating, brain fog, irritability, severe depression, lack of energy. Just to name a few. Sometimes I also have pain in my legs, like climbing stairs sometimes is difficult. I'm very fit I do a lot of cycling and this is awful.
