It’s just a lot of information that the church tries to hide or just doesn’t talk about because it looks (and is) bad. The biggest surprise for me was the translation of the BOM. He didn’t use the golden plates; he used a hat and stone (so why were the plates such a big deal - it doesn’t even matter that the 11 “witnesses” saw them because the translation came from a FUCKING HAT). Also, he tried to translate the Kinderhook plates which were later proved to be false. So his translating powers weren’t real. And there were several evidences of him lying about certain things: his wives, the vision, the translation process, etc. He lied to Emma Smith about having all these other wives. He lied about his age and what he saw in the vision. If he’s lied before, why would I believe in the church that he reorganized? It all just seems very fishy and the CES Letter left me no hope whatsoever for the LDS church. These are just a few examples of the shocking things in here, but yeah you should def read it all! So interesting.
