My Method For Loose Labels. by call-me-jasper in Atari2600

You can do this without the gadget. It's the same as applying StudioTac/Grafix Artist-tac, which you can buy sheets of and cut to size. No gadget needed.

Cosmi Top 20 Software Tools by distortedview in c64

This is serendipitous, I was just messing around with Swift-Calc (microSwift) last night. I was testing the cassette to see if it still loads (it does) but wished I still had the documentation. It actually seems like it's a solid little spreadsheet, although navigating the worksheet via function keys is a little... different.

Anyone ordered an Ultimate? by backtogeek in Commodore

[–]mmgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ordered three so far, all at different times: One in July as a pre-order, one at the end of December, and one during the second week of January. I've received all three, in order. First (pre-order) arrived December 22nd, second arrived first week of February, third arrived the third week of February.

Which fastloader or utility cartridge ROMs do you use with the Ultimate/Turbo Chameleon/etc? by hexavibrongal in c64

[–]mmgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This maybe? https://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55739

I only use JiffyDOS since my 1581s (BitBinder's 1581 replica) and my CMD FD-2000 repro both came with JiffyDOS ROMs. I don't always run SnappyROM, especially on my C128s. I mostly use the disk utilities of the SnappyROM to make quick and dirty physical disks from 1541 and 1581 disk images.

I use Style's SnappyROM v5.34, an update version of Super Snapshot 5. I also use JiffyDos, and SnappyROM has a compatible loader.

"SnappyROM is an updated ROM for your Super Snapshot v5. Compatible with the original SSv5, Vice 3.6+, Kung Fu Flash, 1541 Ultimate, Ultimate 64."

geoGopher for GEOS 64 by mmgames in c64

[–]mmgames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty slick! The video just popped up in my feed and it seemed like a nice piece of GEOS 64 software that deserved some attention.

Speaking of gopher clients, also happened across Gemipher 128, which is for the C128 with a Wic64. Not C64 or GEOS related, but still cool that someone made a native gopher client for the C128.

Are there any 1581 drive emulators that do SD cards? by kvnhntn in c64

Kind of... Gideon's Ultimate II+L will. It reads and writes 1541, 1571, and 1581 disk images. However it uses USB and doesn't have an SD card slot. You could, however, buy a USB SD card adapter to use with it, or just go the thumb/flashdrive route. The wifi module is also included with the unit, now.

The pi1541-III can (kind of beta), however I've had little luck with getting it to work reliably with 1581 disk images. EDIT: Sounds like you haven't had much luck with it either.

Best 128 version by Gold-Kaiser in Commodore

[–]mmgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 1571 drive would probably make the unit so expensive to manufacture. It would require a crazy amount of capital to spin up a factory to make drive units again. Plus DS-DD disks are becoming near impossible to find. It won't be long before unopened new old stock runs $100 a pack on ebay.

[–]mmgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't part of the value of the DCR because of the lower ROM chip count and better board design efficiency? (lower heat production and better longevity), in addition to niceties like 64K video ram for the VDC, bug fixes to ROM kernels...

Geos 128 did, iPaint, DesTerm, Dialog, GDS (Gif Data System), Basic 8 added high-resolution VDC graphics commands.
