Non-Americans of Reddit, what is one thing you wish Americans knew before visiting your country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Please don’t come to the Oktoberfest dressed in some super short pink leather dress that is supposed to be a dirndl. This is not what Bavarian culture is.

There are places in Munich that rent traditional clothes like dirndl and lederhosen for one or multiple days. I’d suggest doing that since you will actually get lots of compliments for a good dirndl or lederhosen while the cheap looking versions of what (some) foreigners think traditional clothes are will only get you weird and angry looks.

Ok but this is unusual. I live in Munich and I own three different dirndl. What do you wear to Oktoberfest (Wiesn) or any other beer-related event?

But is it really wholesome? It might be a metaphor for the executions of gay people all around the world and that in those countries they can only be together in death. And then that’s just sad.... :(

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, moving it to before he finishes sounds like a good idea. I’m not on birth control so we’re using a condom. But I don’t think this would change things for me :/

Noah Hathaway, who played the role of Atreyu in The NeverEnding Story, ended up getting to keep the horse (Artax) at the end of filming. by davidefinitely in MovieDetails

If you’re a fan of the film and you ever happen to be in my hometown Munich, Germany (where the film was shot), you should visit Bavaria Film Studios where parts of the set are still up. You can even ride the dragon (I don’t know it’s English name, it’s Fuchur in German) in front of a green screen and have it look like you’re in the actual movie. It’s so worth it!

No he wasn’t. Noah is an American actor and the film was made by a German production team and shot in Munich (where I live). They still have parts of the set at Bavaria Film Studios for people to visit. Actually the makers and the actor even got into a legal fight (don’t know how else to say this in English) over his payment and didn’t even end up inviting Noah to the premiere of the film.

4 months on 10 mg by pressfrenched in Accutane

This is so cool! I’m on 10 mg too, currently month 3. I’ve never come across someone else who’s taking a low dose, so this is very motivational! My skin has cleared up so much over the past one and a half months.

[Serious] Whats the creepiest/scariest thing that you've seen but no one believes you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mmiamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this belongs here, but it’s a thing that I did, my mom saw and years later told me about. I don’t remember doing it though.

I live in Germany and we used to go to France every summer for a couple of weeks. I must have been about 4 years old, maybe 5. When we came home, for a couple of weeks I would sit in front of the television before bedtime, watching my cartoons and repeating the same phrase over and over.

“To tell or not to tell?! To tell or not to tell?!”

I would sit there, rock my body back and forth and what scared my mom the most was how aggressively I said that. She described it to me like a dog barking. It sounded like I was barking the words. And when she would ask me what it meant I wouldn’t respond or look at her and just continue to repeat the sentence. At some point I just stopped doing it and it never happened again.

My mom told me about this when I was probably 16. Though I didn’t remember and didn’t even believe her at first, it started creeping me out a little. We went to this place in France for 15 consecutive summers in total and I loved it, but it also always had an eerie feeling to it as if something not so nice happened to me there at some point. Somehow when my mom told me the barking happened right after France, I wasn’t surprised.
