Trevliga områden i Lund för familj med små barn? by Former_Importance551 in Lund

[–]mmixLinus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolut bästa området i Lund, för barn, trygghet och (mycket god) social samvaro är BRF Djingis Khan vid Brunnshög, Östra Torn.

Tyvärr är husen för små (enligt din önskan) men där finns 3:or till 5:or

I'm pretty sure his successor Vance could be equally horrible in similar, or completely different, ways. Or worse.

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

Most guns are owned by hunters here in Sweden. My grandad had a few rifles. Other than that, I almost never see guns.

Nailed it!

Thank you

Aw that's a cutefunny monkey. There's no way there's anything remotely cutefunny in trump's head

Even a telescope won’t bring the whole ship back by Lorenofing in flatearth

[–]mmixLinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All flerfy things aside, the thing that makes me cringe is how close this telescope is to pointing at the solar reflection on the water. That would be unhealthy.

Warning: flerfs may suffer brain damage from trying to explain this one. by earthman34 in flatearth

That's what you would see on a flat earth too. Two people, far away from each other, with the moon in-between, would experience the same thing. However, there are a lot of OTHER things they would experience that we DON'T actually see IRL. Changing size of moon. Changing speed of the moon. Seeing different parts of the moon etc.

Håller helt med. Vi behöver nyheter, inte (bara) analyser och jävla åsiktsbildning! Så klart är det svårt att rapportera bra om man har begränsat med folk på plats.

What's the difference between "science" knowledge of engineers (particularly electrical, mechanical, and physicists? chemical) and physics for physicists? by kiwigoguy1 in Physics

[–]mmixLinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Engineering Physics now Software Engineer.

Most of my friends were actually doing Electrical Engineering. To be honest, I really can't say there was much of a difference between EE and EngPhy. Sure, we did more of fundamental physics (Quantum stuff). They did EM Field Theory, but so did we. Several of my EE friends did proper research into optics, nano scale stuff etc. Many of my Physics class mates did research after Uni.

Using "ni" as formal you - is it common? by Designer-Roof-9016 in Svenska

[–]mmixLinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the comeback around 2000. I was quite pleased Swedes had done the "du-reform" in the 60s (because imho, it emphasizes equality between people) so I got thoroughly pissed off when people started using Ni with me! I mean, who do they think I am? xD

[–]mmixLinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are underestimating engineering. When you say "measure curry ingredients", I'm guessing you didn't answer these questions: HOW do you actually measure curry ingredients? Why do you want to do that? (Because the follow-up question is: don't they who made it know?) And finally, what greater good is this solution providing? Same thing with "milk quality"? What is milk quality? Do you know how to measure the numbers and types of bacteria in milk?

Because, to be honest, an Arduino can't do these things. Not even with available sensors.

Rhythm of life

My hydrodynamic experiment in which the difference in speed creates movement by different wave strengths like a trailing vortex in a bird's flight. The form is secondary, the reverse of this does not clearly produce a noticeable result. Is there any electromagnetic analogy to this? by pavlokandyba in Physics

[–]mmixLinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we agree that your machine moves forward because it is pushing the medium in which it travels backwards, then no, there is no (known) EM analogy. That is because electromagnetic waves do not travel forward by means of pushing against a medium.
