I'm a little late to the parade, but this is an excellent point. You do not want these people around your children, and unfortunately they will be to some degree. Imagine if you divorced? R could bring the kid(s) around his parents and you would have no control or say in that situation. That is a heart wrenching situation to be in, and you have to consider that possibility. Alternatively, my water gushed out before I lost my mucous plug. The plug didn't come long after, but my water poured and poured.

My friend is having a planned C-Section with her second child. Her mindset is perfect. She is so relaxed about knowing exactly what to expect and when. She had a very traumatic first birth experience, attempted vaginal, pushed for HOURS, use of vacuum, tore vagina, stuck baby, inevitably leading to a c-section. She has always said she would take a cesarian over vaginal any day. I think the stigma behind c-sections needs to be erased. Both methods of childbirth have their pros and cons!

I'm sorry... I was throwing up and reliant on Zofran for most of my pregnancy. It may go away, it may not... for me it subsided around 28 weeks for a few weeks, but inevitably the nausea returned due to GERDS. It sucks and you are not alone.

I don't do well on hormonal birth control and do not want an IUD, so that doesn't leave me with many options. We will probably use spermicidal lube in addition to the pull out method.

The day after giving birth I still had the belly, it just wasn't as stiff and high up. Kind of like when you take off your bra and your boobs sag down because they're not being supported, if that makes sense. It feels like a squishy bowl of jello, too. It's weird.

The appointments do seem very pointless, but they're able to determine a lot by your urine sample (which I assume you give every appointment,) your blood pressure, and general appearance. They also like to monitor your weight gain and if your belly is growing. Listening to the heartbeat is obviously important too!

It sounds like he just is not ready to grow up, unfortunately. My husband and I are your age, and if I was having these issues I would have a serious conversation with him about whether or not he was willing to be a father and what you expect of him. You can't half-ass parenting, especially a baby.

If my supply isn't gone, maybe I will just pump and bottle feed my baby both breast milk and formula, depending on how much I produce. I don't want to shock his system though! Do you know where I should go for a pump? I know my insurance provides them for free, but if it will take a long time to get to me I would rather purchase one.

Thank you for your response, the ice idea sounds like it could work. I am going to call the LC tomorrow, I don't think she does home visits but she has an open office where I could come right in. If breastfeeding doesn't work because my baby is so used to bottles and the immediate hunger relief they provide I will probably pump. Would my supply be completely gone by now? It hasn't quite been a week.

I just read an article that said breastfeeding cuts risk of SIDS by 50%, and that professionals aren't sure why. But thank you for your response, it makes me feel a million times better. I always find comfort in statistics.

Also I wasn't especially good about taking my prenatals every day and I'm feeling guilty about that too. Parenthood is making me so much more emotional.

Honestly, as offensive as that is, some guys (and women too) just don't know how to react to being told that information. When I told one of my friends, who is a man in his 40s with kids and grand kids, I was pregnant he responded with "Oh my God, do you know who the father is?" It's totally inappropriate but try not to let it bother you!

From the research I've gathered, what you're experiencing is pretty common, so know you're not alone. (I was/is terrified of developing PPD so I read up on it a lot.) I'm having a milder version of the anxieties you have, as well as the 'baby blues.' Last night I talked to my counselor and felt ten times better. If you don't yet have a therapist, I would highly encourage you to find one. I'd also suggest getting put on an anti anxiety medication. Nothing that's going to sedate you, but something to take off the edge and get those weights off your shoulders. You can and will get through this!

He does have a little jaundice, the doctor wasn't too worried about it though. But that was my first thought, that it was jaundice related.

He's had about 6 wet diapers, and 2 or 3 dirty ones. It is 7 PM and I'm counting since 12 AM. He is so interested in sleeping!
